    Panting baby chick

Thank you! I actually decided to put him back with mum, you’re right I certainly don’t want to cause the poor little thing more stress without mumma. I’ll just keep an eye and see how he goes.

    Panting baby chick

Today it was only about 32 degrees Celsius so it wasn’t too bad! The last few days have been around 27-30 degrees. I live in Sydney.

    Panting baby chick

I was watching him with his mum and the other chooks and he wasn’t keeping up with them! Almost got trampled on, that’s why I removed him and put him on his own.

    Panting baby chick

Hi there, My hen recently hatched some beautiful baby chicks, and today I noticed one of the chicks was panting and sometimes making these “sneezing” noises. The chick is 4-5 days old. I don’t know what’s wrong :( I’ve taken it away from the rest and put it on its own with a light and food and...

Broody chicken not sitting on all the eggs properly

She’s pushing out about 4-6 eggs at a time! According to chickengeorgeto’s response, I suppose there’s not much else to do now but just let her do her thing!

Broody chicken not sitting on all the eggs properly

I would say the temperature is quite warm, probably ranging from 25-35 degrees celcius. We are currently going through hot summer weather so I guess that’s good for the eggs!

Broody chicken not sitting on all the eggs properly

Thanks for your reply! Yes she is sitting on a dozen eggs. Should I remove some eggs in that case? It’s only been a day thus far. I didn’t think her breed usually goes broody but she seems pretty intent on hatching some eggs so we’ll see how it goes! I don’t really want to keep pushing the eggs...

Broody chicken not sitting on all the eggs properly

Hi there, I have a 3 year old Isa brown x white leghorn that’s decided she wants to become a mum and has thus gone broody, so we bought her a dozen fertilised eggs to sit on. She’s quite committed to sitting on the eggs, however, whenever I check on her I noticed that a few of the eggs aren’t...

We aren't allowed to keep roosters here where I live :( kinda sad coz I got pretty attached to ️Lucky :( she....I mean he....has an interesting survival story hence the name. Saved his life as he nearly died as...

Black Australorp possibly a rooster? :(

Hi everyone :) My chook, Lucky, whom I thought was a hen, is starting to behave a little aggressively. When I come to pick 'her' up, she pecks my arm and pretty much squeezes it tightly for a few seconds before letting go. It hurts!!!! I always thought she was a girl but now that she's nearly...

Help! 9 Week Old chook possible coccidiosis?

Thanks so much everyone for all your information and input, I appreciate it! As Lucky is still living with her mother (a Silkie hen who is still attached to her kids even at 9 weeks lol) I will have to disinfect the whole coop and treat all the chickens. I'm just worried about consuming Bonnie's...

Help! 9 Week Old chook possible coccidiosis?

@Free Spirit Thank you so much for your information. I live in Australia so I'm not sure if Corid is available here, Sulfa3 is the only available antibiotic to me at this point. I've followed the dosing schedule as per the bottle, although it doesn't specify age or weight it's a general dosing...
