After browing all the BYC forums, scouring the internet, and planning and replanning, we finally had a design.
We decided to build an 8 x 12 shed with a 12 x 16 x (5 or 6) run.
We thought we would get started on Saturday May 9, beautiful weather, no soccer games, plan complete...
Then we found...
The Great Chicken Adventure
It all started sitting around a bonfire with some friends watching their chickens last fall....
This Spring I got the itch!
This is the original group of ladies (we hope!). We picked them up on March 29th, I think they were 4 or 5 days old. I knew I wanted Easter...
In the picture marked "today" they are almost 6 weeks old. I'm going to try to get some more pics, because another one that I THOUGHT was a roo, MAY not be LOL. The one in question isn't in these pics, and has a comb like the roo, but it's lighter and hasn't grown lately...
I'll try to get...
Well I didn't really think they were BCM to begin with, so I'm fine I was thinking they were some sort of bantam mix (and I got them for free), so I'm totally good with it. They're really sweet and they are beautiful, so I'll just have to get more chickens so I get my dark eggs Like that's...

If these are BCMs, I feel incredibly lucky!
Funny part is, I've been looking for marans or welsummers so I could have dark eggs, not having any idea they might already be in my coop.
They do have feathers on their feet. I have two with the combs and wattles and one without. I...
Is there any chance that these are black copper marans? I posted them before to try to find out what they were, thinking they might be a cochin or cochin mix. The lady I got them from told me they were about 3 weeks old which would make them almost 6 weeks old now (I think they are older)...
Here are some updated pics....
I have two of these roos and the one hen, that much I'm sure of....
BUT what are they???? They are very sweet and calm with feathered feet...I was wrong in my original post they only have 4 toes.
Help!
Kim
Here are a few updated pictures from the last week or so...

This is going to give my dh a good laugh tonight! Me and organized in the same sentence??? If you're refering to the stacks of wood, that's just the way they landed when they the threw them off the truck!
Ok, here's a close up of one of the silkies. It's got brown on the cheek area, and a striping to the feathers on the back (they are about 3 weeks btw). It's color looks mostly grey. There are two others that are much darker, so I think they are going to be black (is that possible genetically...
I'll try to do that tonight Thanks!
She may have had some other bantams running around. She inherited them when a friend passed away and wasn't sure exactly what she had. I'm just guessing based on what she said and what I actually saw...
I wasn't familiar with the Mille Fleur before we...
It doesn't feel fast!
We've been working for 3 weekends and several evenings, around rain and the kids activities...I think if we could get one day where it's nice and we don't have to do ANYTHING else, we could get almost done with the structure.
I'm still not sure what we're going to do...
Ok, we went and picked up new chicks this weekend, well, just because
We ended up deciding that we'd bring home everything she had, see how they turned out and then resell the ones we don't want to keep.
She had a white silkie hen and two partidge silkie roos. She also had a mille fleur...
Here was what we accomplished between rain and a soccer tournament over the weekend.
And here's what was done at the end of the night on Monday May 18th
We're hoping to be completely done by the end of this weekend. We have a campout planned for Saturday night in the coop as long as it...
After a couple of months of trying to come up with a design and borrowing ideas from some of the great coops here on BYC, we finally started construction on our coop this past weekend.
What started out as an 8 x 12 shed type coop, was modified at the last minute to become a 12 x 12, due to...
