We had a power outage due to storm about half way through incubation period. We got the generator going as quick as we could but the temp and humidity in incubator went all wonky. Ever since just couldn't get back to the perfect temp and humidity I had it at.
As a result I've had 3 chicks...
We have three gorgeous roosters we sadly need to sale. We can't have four roosters so selling the three youngest. They are spoiled handsome birds and well mannered. All home hatched, loved and babied.
Levy 'aka' Marshmellow is about is a year old and is a solid white silkie. He's a big baby...
Yeah I have a 3 and only one right now laying eggs...she's a lot older though and hers are a bright white. My ducks lay blue eggs lol. But I've got three bantams in same age but don't know if any them laying yet. They all still young.
There are 5 other hens approximately the same age...6 to 7 months old.....I do not know if they have started laying yet or not. I have so far in past week found 3 really small cream colored eggs.
I know. The first pic was only taken a couple weeks ago and now looks like this....but yet I have found sitting on nest and have found eggs but has attempted to crow like a roo.
I agree!
Even if we are going to be gone a for an entire day and not back in time for 'lock down' as we put it. We have a neighbor or family put our birds to bed and also check on a couple times during the day. But we have to because we have coyotes in our area that have been known to get into...
I have heard people say Silkie's mock other bird sounds....she has tried to mimic my guinea fowl....could it be possible just trying to mimic the roo's too?
Her waddles and comb are small and almost a purpleish blue color. It could be possible its one the other hens. Just not sure. I am just baffled by how she is going after my roo.
I have a silkie here I was pretty sure was a female and was beginning to lay eggs that is about 6-7 months.
But yesterday she crowed at me like a roo would, and has been being a bit onry towards my white black crested polish roo, who is also about the same age.
I have 5 hens that 6-7 months...
