Thank you for the advice, since I never had to use anything like this, in my all my years with chicks it’s good to be reminded of all precautions to watch for & take! :hugs
Barred rocks, Rhode Island reds, Easter Eggers: these are all from the hatchery at the pet feed store. I’m not sure if the device he ordered is a good idea or bad. I’ve never used one myself. I just tend to get chicks and stuff when I have Brody’s around! ;)
By the way nice to meet you BlueBaby...
He says he ordered this on Amazon. I’m not sure if it’s useful but it sounds like it helps to determine temperature in the broder box...

Good evening everyone, my husband wants to know what age are chicks :jumpyconsidered fully feathered...so, they can go out in the yard with the heat lamp to stay.
.. Normally I have them under Brody but this time there is no Brody in either of our flocks! Thanks
I Buy and used poultry protector on it was either lice or mites, the ones that build up little clusters around the feathers and they've got these teeny little buddies bodies that look like fleas that are opaque and kind of brown reddish in color. It was citric acid I believe and I felt more...
I can't get on byc to add a picture from my phone. I took one too!! :/
Here is an example of something you can find on Amazon that should be what you could cut down to size for the velcro. The last one I bought was white and not this black one. See below...
I sure wish I had room! Sure would love one for the milk it tastes much like cow's milk. I already have 20 full grown chickens and I know I'm not supposed to get anymore, bah humbug!!! -grrr!

I always use a no crow collar, and I have for the last 3 years. Any boys I have done has done well. The trick is to be able to get it on tight enough so they don't crow so loud. It's usually very difficult to get it tight enough sometimes to keep them from crowing at a loud volume!! My youngest...
LOL that's the common problem with chicken math and cute babies!
I'm having a hard time giving thumbs up on some of the posts I read so, I will continue to try from time to time. I'm using a cell phone so it is probably the reason why it's more difficult!! :(
I use the product called poultry protector and you can buy in feed stores or sometimes even Walmart's. It's main ingredient is citric acid and it seems to kill them without using a insecticide on my organically fed chickens!! ;)
.. I have used that on even as many as 20 chickens at one time. I...
I think your orpingtons will do fine. I got some from @ChuskaMtns ( a local breeder) and I have a lot of shade with Oleanders (which I hate) , some bamboo, sugarcane and some fruit trees. My plant drip system that waters the ground every morning an evening for the plants and trees and I just...
