    Our dogs are the biggest predators and an occasional opossom. It appears that the armints only like the taste of birds that don't fight back. Rooster and ducks survive very well, hens..not so much. My new coop and run are built to live up to the name, FORT FLOCKS..

    I have my new flock in the brooder now, 1 EE, 2 SF and assorted bantams, 15 in all. I still hope to find a couple female Polish. My Grumpy Old men live in the woodpile.

    i had a similar experience with chicks from Hoovers in Iowà, TWICE! They went to Minneapolis once and to Memphis once. Both orders leFT Iowa on Tuesday, arrived in Arkansas Saturday. Neither had extra packing or heat packs in the box. Finally got my money refunded and ordered from Ideal...

    OK. Here' my "two-cents". As I read it, you are expecting 7-10 full sized birds. You want shade area under the coop for birds. I highly recommend this. https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/the-chick-inn.73603/ plan to you. It covers all the issues you have questioned in this post.

    Love that first photo! Beautiful babies. Now, my turn. My first attempt at a video. Please excuse the shakiness, I have a head tremor, and it is hard to hold still. I currently have silkies in the garage growing out to add to this menagerie.

    My stock tank brooder. I don' have a thermometer, I adjust the light if they get cold. So far they have just laid in a ring around the light
