Went out to the coop today and Ms. poopy butt is getting worse.
Vent is clear...no clog. But it is like the poop runns down her but and 'eats' the feathers away. The skin is bright red with a few feather trying to poke out. She is still laying eggs.
She has had 'poopy butt' since fall but...
This is a double yolk 3 7/8 oz egg. The thing is HUGE!!! It fills the palm of my hand!
My question is what is that 'crack' line in the middle. It looks like it is a fuse of 2 eggs together.
Is this normal? Should I expect it to happen again?
you are NOT gong to believe this one!
I put my decoy egg out there and they did the same thing!!! They ate the hot sauce and the mustard leaving just the membrane. It is like they are peeling the egg!! I had to fight them for it.
is there a protein or something chickens are lacking when they...
thanks for the advise this is what I posted on Face book:
After posing for help on my chicken boards it was suggested that they were eating the egg. My first thought were 'Not MY chickens!" Just like the parent in denial about the bad behaved child.
But when I was giving them fresh water and...
thanks for the response.
I am not finding shells...do they eat the shells too?
there really is no place to hide eggs in the coop. they are enclosed and the coop is only an 8x5'.
any other advice?
my 6 month old golden comet has not laid an egg in 3 days. She just started laying about 4 weeks ago. She will lay us pretty big eggs (3 oz.) compared to the 2 oz. her sisters give us.
she doesn't seem to be in pain and she hasn't had any trama ( as far as I know)
I currently have her in a...
This chicken was born just before easter... so that makes it...12 weeks old? We call 'her' big momma. But she is the biggest out of all my chickens. I don't know if she is just big for her breed ( what is that by the way?) or if she is a he. This one deffinatley rules the roost. But I don't...
not only is this hen going to live she is THRIVING!!! My next question is how do I introduce her back to the flock. when I say 'flock' I mean her 6 sisters? I was thinking of putting the others in the chicken run and putting her in the coop by herself. Let her in there for a bit and then let...
i currently have the chicken out of her box and free in the powder room. She is up and walking a few steps at a time. After a few steps she sits back down. But the big news is there is white in her poop!! She had an entire cooked egg yolk today, medicated chick starter crumbles and...
oh my goodness! Thank you all for all the WONDERFUL information. This morning she is actually on her feet! taking teeny steps in her box. I gave her pedialyte and she has her medicated chick starter for food. her poop look like normal poop. The only thing they are missing is the white tip...
Thank you so much for all of your advise and concern. I have her inside, in a box with fresh shavings and food and water all to herself. She was so happy to have food and water. I am wondering if she was being bullied and I wasn't noticing it. I have noticed improvement over the las 12...
she is not bearing any weight. Poo is poo colored! no blood or green or funky colors.
I wish I had more information. I just walked out to the coop/run and found her like this on Friday. The only other possibility is that she might have gotten caught is the chicken door. I found the door...
This is my RIR (I think)
she is 14 weeks (born right before easter)
3 days ago I found her next to the door to the coop. She was laying on her side and acting sleepy. She was allowing the other chickens to step all over her. She showed no motivation to get up. I opened the people door ( on...
