doggone fire ants!! We live out in the great Dismal Swamp and have lots of fresh hills ALL the time! U can try boiling water usually works great or poison their mound... whih unless its IN the coop i guarantee is UNDER the coop. Just be CERTAIN to use as directed and cover the poisoned mound...

we don't like using poisons either... HOWEVER-- these fire ants here are a major issue. We use a granular Sevin that is listed to control them and then cover the mounds with bucktes and bricks to keep the goats chickens and ducks out of the poison. Our oter major nuisance out here in the Dismal...
Where are u located in nc? i'm on 17 just across state line in va and work in elizabeth city. We're in the heart of the dismal swamp and have LOTS of coyotes, foxes, bears, etc. here--
