My light Sussex hen has got a sort of bare area on her back with basically no feathers although there seems to be the bottom part of some feathers there. Don't know what i should do so was hoping for some [/IMG]help. Hope the pictures show up!
Also there is a cockerel in there with them but...
Hello, I have had two Scots Grey chicks randomly dying through the night within a week of each other for no obvious reason. The first one was a female and was hard but under the brooder when I found her in the morning (4 wks 4 days old). The other one I found today was a male and was quite warm...
Hello, I already keep chickens, but I am looking to get ducks as well. Is there any breeds that you would recommend me getting?
I will want them to be rare flyers if not then I would want non-flyers, I wouldn't mind egg production, want them to look okay, and it doesn't matter if they like to...
Hi, I had a chicken with a similar problem. It had a prolapse and then flies started to fly around its vent area a clear sign that maggots were to come. I pushed the prolapse in again and again but it wouldn't stay. I ended up taking her to the vets but they put her down sorry to hear about...
OK thanks for that, really appreciate it! How should I splint it? I don't think it's partial paralyses as it is only the leg and I'm pretty sure I've had a hen with that too. Should i maybe take it to the vets??? Thanks anyway though and will keep you updated!
Last night I found my hi line hybrid hen standiñg in the corner of the shed facing the wall, when she tried to walk I noticed her left leg sticking out in front of her. She has a limp as well. Any help on what to do would be great! I don't think she perched last night and she didn't lay...
Yeah I've read that you need to keep their feet feathers dry as much as possible so I have mine in a portable run that I move around every so often so that the grass doesn't turn to mud. I'm in Scotland though so its probably colder and wetter here than where you are in america.
I have two hens just now that have very dirty bums. I really don't know what to do about it as last year another of my hens had one and it attracted the flies giving it maggots and eventually killing it. Any advice would be great, thanks
My hen is looking very poorly so I isolated her this afternoon but she can't walk and seems to be sleeping most of the time. I have given her food, water, grass, sawdust and straw. I'm not sure if she will manage till morning hope she does though!!!
