Rescued a chicken and don't know how to help it recover

Poor chook! Make sure to keep it in a warm place with fresh hay or wood clippings and I recommend treating it with a few raisins or some oatmeal, my chickens always love them. Also Keep it hydrated. Good luck, hope she gets better. -M.H

Wild Rooster vs Barred Rock Chickens - HELP

In my area the biggest problem is cats, as my neighbour Is a "crazy cat lady". The best advice I can give is that your yard is completely fenced off. Until you can find a permanent solution I think it's best you supervise your chickens whenever they are roaming. Good luck. -M.H

    Breed guesses? And deformity?

I briefly searched up "Afro duck", and think it might be a crested duck. I can't quite see on your photo but it might resemble some of the photos on this site. http://blogs.discovery.com/animal_oddities/2010/12/crested-ducks-have-funny-hair.html -M.H

    New momma needs advice!

Welcome to BYC!:welcome My chickens tend not to lay when they are moulting. But if that isn't the case then I think it might just be a case of letting them get completely used to their surroundings. I'm also quite new to chickens so that's all the advice I can give. Good luck!
