We have three silkies we need to rehome. One is a partridge and two are black silkies. One of the black silkies is a mix and has a single comb and is big for a silkie. We have had them since January and they were 8-12 weeks old when we got them. They have two extra toes instead of the silkie...
Update: She passed recently after this post was made. Unsure of what the problem was but suspected respiratory infection. She was too young to fight it off and we hope she rests in peace in chicken heaven.
Try to keep other animals from pecking at it and apply an ointment if you can. Try to clean it out and make sure the duck is getting good food and water.
(Adding into thread on the same chicken) 4M/o Silkie pullet with nasal mucous discharge; rattling breathing; white eye discharge; lethargic; just finished treatment for poultry lice; we suspect possibly a respitory infection and seeking help on what to do. Can get a hold of Vet Rx and...
Update: She got sick again but we treated it fast and she got better immediately. Sadly, she died suddenly a few weeks later when I was away from home and my parents were taking care of her. She was my ESA so this was very hard for me but I knew she was a troubled case when I got her already...
Sorry it is so late but here is an update:
She had some kind of infection in the tip of her mouth. It blocked her sinuses. We removed a lot but it would only come back. It was yellow-ish and pretty hard. In the end, we took her to a vet and got some antibiotics. It went away but after we were...
I have a hen who is a little special. I believe she hatched with water on the brain and she needs extra help during the day. If I left her alone she would drink water until she vomite and would drink more water. She is a little slow. We usually feed her crumbled but today we had no choice but to...
We might suspect Splash orpington but they hatched from Brown eggs and they are 2 months old were born July 5th. Have speckled feet and beaks. Walks like a hen and photo of it standimg does not do it justice.
I checked on my silkie this morning and her eye seemed watery and swollen. I checked and there was a strand of a feather in her eye and a lot of clear fluid. I pressed on the swollen area gently and it seemed to be soft and full of the fluid. At first I suspected sinuses but it seemed as though...
I use Sulmet (sulfamethazine sodium) that goes into their drinking water. Last time my hen had the eye problem it was borderline at the place of her possibly losing her eyesight since it was swollen. It did miracles to her.
My EE has this! It was so bad some nights it would close up. This is her second time it would get really severe. I would use a damp paper towel to allow it to open up. She has a red ring. She is only a yr. old. I give her antibiotics in the flocks water and it would clear up. I do not currently...
Noone else is showing any symptoms. She does not seem to be eggbound. We gave her a mixture we call "chicken gatorade" and she did not improve. She does not eat often and when she does she enjoys eating wet mashed food. I mix in eggshells for calcium. She has started turning into a indoor...
I have a rhode island red and this morning she was pale and did not make a effort to greet me this morning. When I picked her up she stayed pale and did not fight me. She still did not react when my dogs sniffed around her. My mother checked if she was egg bound by feeling her sides and the hen...
Update: We put some antibiotics in their water we hope it will help. The eye problem is getting worse and has shown up in our buff minorcas. (She is always angry so understand the red is her angry face in the photo)
We used to use a oder neutralizer but the problems started after we removed...
