I've seriously considered the fact that they may be laying and someone is stealing them! Seriously we've got some shady people that live behind us.. what kind of lamp would you recommend getting to put in their coop in case theyre not getting enough light? I checked their vent and it's about two...
HI I have 4 rhode island reds and 4 brahmas. They were all hatched March 18th and I still haven't got one egg! We have a good sized coop, one rooster, I've been giving them laying feed for several weeks, and have been giving ouser shells for the last week. We haven't got any eggs... at this...
She's not a new addition, the rooster is new. I got all 8 of my hens at the same time. The coop is pretty big... about 10 foot by 15 foot and 8 foot high. I have 8 hens and one rooster.. they are let out of the coop to free range daily. I'm not exactly sure why this is happening to her. I've...
Yep! He's huge!! He's a full growe jersey giant. But seems very gentle. I have noticed the hens kinda chase each other or look like they attack each other occasionally. Is there anything I can do to stop that? I don't want my babies hurt!
That makes sense! I didn't have a rooster until yesterday (a friend had extras so I got one..) and I noticed this a couple hours ago! It didn't take the rooster long to make himself at home! :)
my baby is missing some feathers! I have 8 hens total and one rooster. I attached a picture of her neck where the feathers are missing, any ideas what could be causing this?
Do you think having the whole coop covered could affect them laying? I've let them out to free range for a little while now... how long should they be out of the coop everyday?
I bought them from tractor supply on March the 3rd. They stay in a coop with a run area it's completely under roof. I do let them free range about 1 day a week.. should I let them out more often? We have alot of dogs that run around our neighborhood and I'm afraid they could get one of my chickens..
this is one of my favorite babies! She always likes to be held. They definitely sing and try out the nesting boxes. But I'm not sure if their combs are red enough... what do you think?
I have 4 RIRS hens, 4 Brahma hens and 1 jersey giant rooster. This is my first time ever raising chickens. I bought them 22 weeks ago at tractor supply locally.. they haven't laid any eggs yet.. they have laying boxes in their coop. Should I expect eggs soon or will they wait until next spring?
