What has happened to my egg?

Other than the unsightly appearance, there's nothing wrong with the shell. Its hard, firm and strong and appears just as solid as any other egg with no weaknesses.

What has happened to my egg?

Any idea what form of 'stress' has caused this to happen. These are all today's eggs and I had the same thing happen from this chicken yesterday as well

    What is she?

I really should get you a better photo, coz its the one at the back I'm unsure of. The one nearest the camera is a Golden Brahma, but just don't know what the other is. Dad of both is our Barred Wyandotte rooster. She came from a white egg.

50lb of feed for 18 birds across 6 weeks equates to 200g of feed per bird per week.....

    Mooredge Poultry

Lots of stuff going on here at the moment - just dealing with the moult is one thing but getting ready for winter and the preparation for control of the mud in the paddocks and fields takes up lots of time. We''re still hatching new stock; here is one of the latest arrivals - little Araucana...

I inherited this rooster and someone suggested at the time he was a 'something Bar-dot'. Any ideas?

Ending the life of a pet chicken without chopping or breaking.

Why do you put holes in the top? Surely you want the co2 to stay inside?

Does anyone mix bantam breeds with larger breeds?

My 4 Wyandotte bantams are running with 34 LF and the LF rooster with no problems! Not sure if their eggs are fertile though as they aren't laying due to being quite young still (18 weeks).

Is my flock too big for my rooster?

Hi all, What's the optimum number of hens for my rooster to look after? It only just occurred to me, whilst sitting here watching my incubator, that if there were too many of them in his harem, he might not get round to all of them and I might well have a higher percentage of infertile eggs...

    Newbies hatching today

Ok! So baby Alice is now 2 weeks old and huge! I've got 11 more eggs due to hatch today in the incubator. I feel more prepared this time. No whistling or cheeping yet but there's time! Instinct tells me not to put the new hatchlings in with baby Alice (2weeks old) and foster mum 'Rocky' in case...

    Hatchlings on the way!

Thanks everyone! Quick question though - how long until the chicks start getting up and pecking about for themselves? Bearing in mind that newly hatched Alice is the only one so far (she hatched about 6 hours ago) is it normal for a chick to stay under mum for so long?

    Hatchlings on the way!

Hi Guys I'm in the UK and got my first eggs hatching today! Only 2 eggs made it to today from 6 that went under the broody mum, but one is cheeping and has a hole in it - the other still quiet. How long does the hatching process take? Got 11 more in an incubator due in 2 weeks as well. I...
