Hatchlings on the way!

Yes it's quite normal chicks can survive for up to three days after hatching. They live off the yolk sac they absorb during hatching. When hatch is over mum will show them what to do. Also just after hatching they are very tired I bet she under mum warm and cosy having a good sleep.

Baby Alice is adorable, you need to send out "hatching notices" to your friends. Brooding hens keep the chicks underneath to keep them warm and safe. They generally have very good instincts of chick rearing. Congratulations - hope it IS a girl.

Hatching is so exciting!

Ok! So baby Alice is now 2 weeks old and huge! I've got 11 more eggs due to hatch today in the incubator. I feel more prepared this time. No whistling or cheeping yet but there's time! Instinct tells me not to put the new hatchlings in with baby Alice (2weeks old) and foster mum 'Rocky' in case Alice pecks them or bullies them for food. Am I right?
