Hello I've got a question.will older hens kill 5 week old chicks if u keep them with the flock?

I have my garden near the coop and run.if I let my hens out to pick in the yard it seems first place they want to go is in the garden.they like scratching for worms.

My wife is a stroke victim and she needed something to occupy her time so she had me build her a coop with a run and she loves it.we have 10 hens and getn average 8 eggs as of now.she sets in a wheel chair and watch her chickens.she has Rhode island reds and yellow buffs.also couple black...

I've done this 2 times and good both times.they all wanted to get back in but some couldn't find the door.i did figure that bowl of cracked corn didn't mean nothing to them after getn the yard.they were happy hens.

I tried it today and it worked pretty good but 5 of them was wanting to get back in the coop as it started getn dark and they couldn't find the door to the run.they was really enjoying the yard.

so your chickens go back in at roost time without you having to catch them?

Ive got neighbors around me.but I was thinking of letting my chickens out to enjoy my yard.I have close to an acre.I figure I would let them out about hour before sunset so they would get back in the run and coop at roost time.do u all think that will work.my wife is in wheel chair so I figured...

im slowly learning about byc,but im curious is their any table scraps that you should not feed your hens?i have been feeding them all my scraps and corn daily.i also notice that the corn I put in the feeder is scratched out on the ground next day.seems they would rather eat from the ground?also...

seems to be losing all over.shes lost enough till she looks like a smaller chicken.dont think its mites but I will try to look her over good.

need answers from some of you professionals.one of my hens is shedding feathers bad and its cold winter here in va.im new to chickens ,although I was around them as a child on a farm,i never did really kno nothing about them.do I have any worrys of disease or is this common stuff?

so I have 4 girls that should be laying and they look identical.not sure that they all are laying so whats the best way to find out?

thanks a bunch.are production reds same as rhode island reds ? that's what I thought they was.

I made a mess out of my last post but that's karens chickens.maybe someone could tell me what breed and age of them if that's possible .
