Daisy is 30 weeks old. When I closed the coop tonight she fell from the roost. She couldn't seem to get her neck straight. I brought her inside. She got her neck straight and was drinking and eating. I gave her backside an inspection. There was a rock frozen onto her backside feathers.
Got it...
Thanks. I have a baby monitor so I could hear the "egg song" if need be. Lol.
I did hear it this am but they have all been doing that for two weeks now... So it was a lovely surprise.
You asked me if I do that to have them lay eggs & my answer was to share that I do not....

No. Not at all. Their light goes on at 6:30 am and is off by 6 pm.
Right now, the sun is up 30 minutes later. I go in with fresh water and fresh feed and my early morning pretense stimulates their desire to eat their healthy feed, which my vet told me is real important 1st thing in the am. and...
Thanks! She was acting perfectly healthy yesterday...I get up before their light comes on, and am about half way to the coop when the light does come on....she was gone pretty quickly.
Sorry. I found her in the corner of the coop not wanting to be not wanting to be bothered this am. Brought her in. Seemed like maybe she had a leg injury but after a warm foot bath-she's standing. No cuts that I can see but she's just standing there. Also, she won't eat or drink. She's been in...
I'm so glad I read this! I just came in from their coop and I actually turned their light timer off because I really don't like to see them fighting. Lol (new chicken owner)
But mine, peck on each other's heads and it looks like bullying to me.
Now I know to just mind my own business...
Yes. I have that. The electrolytes are for stress. One my my other girls died and the weather has been fluctuating warm/cold. In addition to that...they have been spooked by some hawks
I'm pretty sure it was a vitamin defiecncy.
I switched all of their feed to the layer feed and have been putting vitimans/electrolytes in their water daily. In addition to that, I have her some dried cat food. In a mash.
All of my gals ate up the layer feed like crazy!!! I was waiting until...
I have a 20 week old chicken that is walking backwards. Almost as if she has no control. She will be standing there and suddenly going backwards as if involuntary
Thank you. I did read up on swollen head syndrome. I don't know for sure what this is...just that the antibiotics are helping her, for now and that's good. The thing is, her feet were warm to touch too & the vet was concerned about that. So it's best I get someone here to do a full evaluation
