    Nesting box question

I have 3 cat litter boxes for 7 chickens. One they have all decided to poop in. (I put it in the wrong place) But they all seem to use just one of them. If I put a few boxes with straw on the floor of the coop would they use them? I have chickens sitting on top of each other and one that hardly...

    Chicken communities?

I have some RIR's and MAY be getting some Aracauna's. Numbers are equal as they are 6 and 6. Thae Ara's are about a month behind the RIR's. Can I expect any trouble between them other then maybe a usual tussel or so? Thanks Steve

    Coop ramps

I have a question, In my coop my birds actually wait to use the ramp to get to the porch of the coop, not unusual but the porch is only about 6 inches off the ground. I would think that they would just hop up on it and walk in but no they all wait in line as the night comes. So the question is...

    landscape timber coop?

What do you guys think of a landscape timber built coop? Kinda like a log home for chickens. No floor and due to lay of the land the timbers have to have at least one layer in the dirt. Opinions please Steve I figure the timbers are the walls so I can cut out the OXB board or siding costs...

    Hello all from WV panhandle

Hello all, found this site thru a woman down the road who raises chickens. Of course after my wife "impulse" bought 12 chicks. So we have been "lurking" for about a week now. Chicks are 10 RIR, 2 Banhams, about 3 weeks on 5/12/09. P.S. they grow fast don't they? LOL Steve
