Just curious. I have five, five week old chicks and four turkey poults. They have been kept inside so far and have been at room temp with no heat for the last week. Would you guys put them outside with no available heat or give them a few more weeks? I am near joplin and it is supposed to dip...
Just wanting some opinions on what heat sources you people trust. My brooder box is going in a shed and it is still pretty cold outside. I have some 250 watt red bulbs from a local farm supply store left over from last year but 1/3 of those would randomly burn out. If that were to happen then...
I am wanting to be honest in what I sell so I have a few questions. I have 2 EE roos and some EE hens. I also have some Silver Laced and Golden Laced Wyandotte girls. I am wanting to hatch this spring and am not sure what to label the crosses as. I could just hatch the blue eggs but am...
Incubator came with one digital and one mercury. Since they were reading different temps I grabbed two more to get an average. I will just go with the three that are closest to each other lol
Title says it all. I have 3 mercury and one digital thermometer that all read different temps. It is a forced air incubator and they are all in the same spot. Lowest is 99 highest is 102. Should I be fine since the temp is within range? What is the hottest and coldest option in a forced air...
Sorry to anyone that had been following along. I got a little sidetracked this year lol. The birds are doing great and love the finished coop.. They have been in it since around June. I had to add a poultry net because I kept losing birds. Now that they are more mature they just hop the...
Just curious to know if I reproduce the colors of one of my roosters. He is an easter egger but I absolutely love his red, orange and silver coloration. So, is it possible for him to pass it on? Would it be possible to incorporate these colors into say my silkies or wyandottes?
True. However, I should have mentioned that I will be purchasing chicks to mix in with my hatch as well. So they would be at least 4 weeks old before putting them into the coop. At which point would seem a little counter productive to me.
It is going to be my first year adding to my flock and I had a few questions. I currently have 11 birds. nine hens and two roos. I am going to be hatching out roughly 40 birds and purchasing about four turkeys. The current flock has a poultry net but they just hop it to free range during...
I dont have any chicks but i can say that the ones i got from heartland hatchery are great. Some of my favorite birds. Heartland makes their rounds to the feed stores across MO in the spring and summer.
