Air cell size with dry incubation.

I’m sorry I was unable to help you. I am rarely active on BYC anymore. I do get my pm notifications through my email so I do reply to members through pm. I don’t like the term dry incubation because it’s misleading. I prefer the term “low humidity incubation”. I don’t like humidity during...

    Hands on hatching and help

Ok I’ve never seen restrictions on courtnix. One of our Amish families had the bob white and we had taken some roosters to them and my son just fell in love with them. Lol :hugs It’s hard up here just to find a place that allows pets period. One of the problems we’re having is I have a rather...

lol. :hugs My son’s been wanting bobwhite quail for a couple years...lol however, in NY if I understand what I read there is something about needing permits and restrictions... I think coutnix (is that the right name?) is the most common.

Ty, yes. Out of my last silkie hatch I finally got my first real splash, female and that’s what I intended on breeding for this year in hopes of concentrating on just splash/blues and blacks. But we will see what happens over the next year. Dad has gotten really bad too. We believe it’s...

    Hands on hatching and help

Thank you. It is. The one that is supposed to take my silkies is my mechanic’s wife, and it’s under the understanding that if at any point I want to restart, I get eggs from my original flock free of charge. I have a friend that is supposed to be taking about half of my layer flock and I’m...

Haven’t been on in a while. Life has been pretty crappy. In the process of rehoming my flock. It really sucks but it’s come down to having to give up our chickens in order to try to find alternate housing. Which is proving to be a pain. I’m keeping my incubator in case we are able to start over...

:frow How has everyone been? I had a message I had to answer so I figured I’d drop in since I haven’t been here in forever! Is everyone ready for the holidays? Getting cold up here. Not looking forward to winter, but can’t wait for Christmas!

Welcome to thread and it amazes me you read all the way through it!! Lol Yes, make sure it's calibrated. My very first hatch I bought a therm and never checked it. It was almost 6 degrees off! Ruined my hatch. I agree with the others. Especially on the dark eggs needing the brightest light...

    Lockdown

If your incubator has a lot of condensation the air is very moist. Extremely moist air is not really what you want the chicks breathing in.

So this is way off topic, but my son wants to be a Five Nights at Freddy's character for Halloween. Foxy. The store bought costumes are so lame. So we decided to attempt making our own. I bought the stuff to do the head this month and have been working on getting it done. We have all but the eye...

I'm new and one of my eggs is hatching and needed a Lil help but...

Higher humidity will take them longer to dry, but doesn't hurt them. You don't want condensation collecting in the incubator though.

Chicks position around 14 turning from the small end to the large end and at day 17ish when they position their head under wing beak up. Chicks should generally be in position by lockdown. While most people don't candle after lockdown and observe strict hands off lockdown not everyone does. I...

Popping in to say hi! Been busy with care of my father, some health issues, got a weekend away and have been painting rocks like crazy! My spitz has turned out to be a pretty decent mom. All 7 are still running around out there. Enjoying them all while I can. There's a chance I'll have to get...

So sorry to hear that. Personally I would have to cull. With development that off I'd be afraid of there being more internally, especially brain wise not developed correctly. Chicks with unabsorbed yolk should be handled as little as possible to give time to absorb without rupturing. I put mine...
