Thanks about the barn, the chickens like it!
The chicken that you are asking about is an Araucana Americanan Or at least that is what I ordered. They are supposed to be an easter egg laying chicken, they lay colored eggs... even though I have not seen any yet from them... I'll keep everyone...

HA! Good eye. Yeah, I wrote a few names on there for 'em... I don't think the same hen is ever in one spot... One of the roosters, I like to call Skipper knows his name. When he is out side ranging I can call his name even if he is on the other side of my land and he'll come running...

The big barn made the purchase of this place easier... I love old barns like this! It's something that you have to be inside to really enjoy it. All hand made and built. It's amazing that they were able to build it. From what I've been told the barn is 115 years old.... ...and...
Here are some pictures. It was still sort of dark in there and my flash was picking up dust in the air, but you'll get the idea of the amount of room I have for chickens...

So... as you can see, they pretty...
Oh boy... I sperated them alittle bit. I was able to toss down some more straw by old junky F350 flatbed... Them seem to like it and have split up a little bit. I wouldn't mind getting more hens, but I have no clue where I could get some now. I'm sure I could raise them again but them they...

Thank you for the reply. I had a feeling that was the news that I would hear. Even though I really like a few of the gents, they're going to have to go. Looks like I'll be getting rid of some birds. I might have to ask my neighbor... Thank you for the reply.

Okay, so here is the chicken break down. I have 33 chickens, mostly Red and Black Stars (hens) of the 33 I have 9 male roosters. 4 are older roosters that I got from my neighbor (Id say over a year old) and the other 5 are about 30 weeks old. The get along for the most part but will fight...
Well, this moring I found a dead rat... It was missing it's head... Good barn cats (dang rats like to eat the chicken feed!) Looking around I also found 15 brown eggs... Looks like ole red was busy... get ready for the pictures!

I'm going to take your advise and keep them in lock down. I was thinking about making a fenced run, but it would be a lot of work for chickens that will just be free range anyway... How much longer do you think I should wait, until they are 10 weeks or so old? Thanks again all!

Here is a picture of two more goofballs out side, they like to eat all kinds of weird stuff. They even like to visit me in my office!
I'll have to find some more pictures of the adults. They are around here some where...

Hi. Yes, the Rooster is okay for the most part with them. If they get too close, he'll chase after them and try and peck. But he is not a jerk about it all the time. I've seen a few times when the little guys will fly up and then dive bomb and land on him. It's pretty funny. They are...

Thanks for the reply(s), I think I might just let them be, because I have a feeling that they might follow the big guys out side. I don't like the idea of trying to get 27 little birds inside. I wonder if I take down the 36 inch chicken wire, if they'll sitck around or follow them out...
Howdy every one. I just wanted to say that I've been lurking on this forum for quite some time and have found it very useful. I'm in the process of raising 27 baby chickens and I have them in my barn with my other 6 adult birds. The babies are 6 weeks old now and are starting to get wild. They...
