OK that makes sense. Only thing is both those breeds have the same combs. If it starts crowing and laying then I'll have something to post. Lol. Either way I was blessed with a beautiful chicken.
OK everyone saying Cockerel. I have 2 other Cockrell off same hatch they have spurs and are crowing and their combs are spread like my roosters. This bird has no spurs doesn't crow and has no interest in the hens like the young boys do.
Please just be patient with me.lol when I wrote the post I was expecting to be able to load photos from phone but couldnt. I am driving at the moment and have about a 2 hr drive ahead. I will post a few pics asap.
I have 2 gl Brahma hens in my blr and sl Wyandotte flock. Last spring one of my hens went broody and hatched a few chick's which was fine by me beings I was having absolutely no luck with an incubator and was heart breaking putting all that effort into nothing. Anyways I had various colors but...
So I wanted some chickens a little over a year ago and my wife found some BLR wyondottes for sale. When she showed me pictures of BLR's I fell in love! We went to a backyard breaker and bought 10 chicks and started out. We ended up with 8 wyondottes and 2 brahmas. The brahmas are gold laced...
I have tried to hatch eggs twice in my incubator but out of 20 eggs I only had 2 hatch the first time and they didn't live long then the second time I lost power for a week and none hatched. Candling these eggs and opening them I noticed that when I couldn't see anything I had a chick in there...
ad up more and more each day. I am pretty sure it's not a disease or vitamin deficiency but rather an injury from a scuffle to be dominant. I am currently building 2 more runs so I can separate all 3 of my cockerells and give them each a few girls of their own. I will also alternate them free...
Yes thanks I saw it. I went to take a pic and couldn't get the camera to work on my phone. He was fine yesterday and when I got home today he wasn't. No blood or obvious damage like he was attacked he won't walk around but did crow a few times but not up to par with his normal crows. I am gonna...
I posted earlier that red seemed to have a broke neck but he seems to be ok but cant lift his head. I dont see any signs that he was atracked or fighting just cant pick up his head.
Came home and my favorite rooster (Red) was waiting for me as usual by the steps but he wasnt picking up his head and looked hurt. I can't find any punctures or blood. I felt all his wings and legs and the only thing I find is his neck seems to have possibly been broken. He is hanging his head...
Also the one pullet that I think has the gape worms is acting like she is feeding but doing this weird sound and opening her mouth wide. Looks just like a video I watched on you tube.
Thanks. I will go to feed store tomorrow and get this valbazen. Another question...if it is still the respiratory disease should I do another treatment of antibiotics? I gave them antibiotic for 7 days and have stopped for 5.
I recently had some respiratory issues with my flock and administered antibiotics. They seemed to have recovered well. I wanted to worm them and waited until after I was done with antibiotics. I noticed one pullet making a sneezing sound or funny hick up sound and did some research. Seems like...
Ok I read alot of information! Woo my head is spinning! I went to local feed stores and only found Oxytetracycline. I would like to give this to them individually with a syringe in their mouths so I know they are each getting the right amount since they pretty much free graze. I found an amount...
I will post some close up pics tomorrow. I live in south louisiana and the weather get cold then back warm in the winter months. Mosquitos are a constant problem. I read that the dry pox can turn into wet pox and they have some yellow mucus coming out of nostril and gargling sounds when...
I have pretty well determined my flock has wet pox. You can read my previous threads to see what lead me to this. I have looked at pics and read some threads concerning this but my birds aren't as far gone as the pics I saw. I would like some direction on what to do as far as treatment to help...
