OK, I have about 65 chickens. I have 15 Isa Browns that are 15/16 months old that I've had 8 months and I used to get 13-15 eggs per day, even thru the cold winter. I was feeding layer crumbles from a hanging feeder and had a lot of waste. What they would knock out on the floor was never eaten...
Just wanted to ask the knowledgeable folks on here, what would be the result of the above cross? I know you will not produce an Isa Brown, but could you expect a decent egg layer?
I saw this set-up at another's guys coop and decided to go that route at my coop.
He had as section of "hog panel" on the wall that had openings of 2"x6". Outside the chicken wire he had a heated dog water bowl. The hens would lean thru the hog panel to get a drink. Wow! Now the water stays...
I drove almost an hour yesterday afternoon, bought 15 Isa Browns, 6 month old. Got them home and in the hen house about dark. This morning I had 15 eggs! (The pic is 14, one was broke in the nest). I'm very happy here! Maybe I should go buy 15 more? Lol:D

Can a Banty rooster breed a full size laying hen?
Also, what causes a blood spot to show up inside an egg occasionally? Is this a fertilized egg?
