    Best Guesses for Crossbred Rooster

Thank you, the chart is very helpful. I'm not sure where I want to go with the breeding program, but I have a cousin with a couple of young children who want to get a couple of chickens off me next time I hatch some out. I thought it'd be kind of neat for them to get colored eggs. I'll have to...

Thank you for your response! Guess it's time to start looking for a better rooster.

    Best Guesses for Crossbred Rooster

Not sure what mixed breed this rooster is. He's either offspring from my birds or part of a dozen "olive eggers" eggs I hatched out at the same time last year. My eggs were Silver Grey Dorking rooster on Sicilian buttercup, Delaware, Welsummer, White Crested Black Polish, or Buff Polish (or...

Did anyone set chicken eggs on April 11th?

In total 19 eggs hatched from my incubator and 5 hatched (finally!) from my father's incubator. 7 eggs didn't hatch, although they seemed to have grown to full term. The only one I fully eggtopsied looked as though there were some growth issues going on although it had seemed to be the most...

Did anyone set chicken eggs on April 11th?

10 egg free so far with three more who have pipped. The eggs I gave to my father have not hatched yet and he doesn't seem to think they're going to hatch. We aren't the most patient people though. I gave him the "easier to use" Brinsea mini advanced, so you'd think his would do something.

Did anyone set chicken eggs on April 11th?

I have four babies that have hatched! With one more definitely working its way out. When I get home I'll snap a picture.

Did anyone set chicken eggs on April 11th?

That's pretty interesting! A couple of times the troughs have run dry (not for too long), and the humidity fell to about 13% even with this rainy weather we've had. My hygrometer was 1% lower when I calibrated it, which I feel is pretty decent. I'm in the SoPo area. I joined the Dorking Facebook...

Did anyone set chicken eggs on April 11th?

You are supposed to. They haven't started hatching yet and I'm having trouble getting the humidity up to 70-75%, so I left the red buttons in until it settled. I have all of the troughs full, two sponges, and one washcloth in there and the humidity hasn't gotten higher than 68%. I'll take one...

Did anyone set chicken eggs on April 11th?

Down to 26 eggs. One of the two we cracked last night was basically yolk and bacterial? snot and the other had grown some but died in shell a couple of days ago. Put the survivors all in lockdown this morning, but I had quite a bit of trouble getting the humidity up during the day. I filled all...

Did anyone set chicken eggs on April 11th?

From the 37 I set, I'm down to 29. Most of the eggs were collected when it was still very cold outside, a couple had been infertile to begin with, and about six had loose air cells even though they weren't shipped (my chickens must have been playing soccer with the eggs). I have one more "maybe"...

Did anyone set chicken eggs on April 11th?

I set 37 eggs in my incubator on April 11th and my father set 7 in his Brinsea. So far, only two of mine didn't show any progress when I candled last night. I cracked them earlier in a sandwich bag and found that they were infertile. I guess Dorkus Maximus my rooster was having an off day. My...
