He's about 9 months old i believe. My last hen was attacked and killed so he needs a home now asap. He's pretty domesticated. Will eat from your hand and follow you around the yard. Willing to meet if not too far. Zip code 75116.
I've had some fake eggs I bought on clearance after Easter that I've been waiting to use for just that purpose. I don't blame her for making her own nest. I've had plenty of time to do it! Lol, I'm SO excited though!!!!
Out of necessity, I locked my hen up overnight a couple nights ago. The next morning, I got my very first egg. Excited right?! Well the next day, I went to let her out and got another egg. Yay! Day after that, no egg in the cage, but I hadn't locked her up the previous night. I figured, hey she's...

Thanks for the tip! Yea I really hated losing 4 of my babies and I'm pretty sure 3 of them were pullets. I did get more not too long ago but only 1 survived. I have serious misfortune when I comes to chickens. I've only noticed this behavior recently so I'll be sure to keep an eye on it. But...
Yea she's definitely not submissive. She pretty much walks off. I know the waiting game is all part of having chickens, but isn't 24 weeks kinda late? And really, it's just been that long since I've had them. I don't know how old they were when I bought them. At least a week or two.
I'm a newbie Chicken owner with only about a year of Chicken experience. After a rouge puppy attack I was left with one each male and female RIR chicks. I named them Ricky and Lucy and kept it moving. They're now about 24 weeks old.
Problem: Ricky is mature and crowing.Lucy isn't pulling her...
Wow, mine def looks more like the Australorp. I hope if it is its a hen. I just rehomed my last Australorp bc it was rooster. His name was Sugar, and my daughter was upset that he went away. I did live him though. Would be nice if this one has the same temperament and is a hen. Did your sex link...
Yea, I was thinking Black sex link too just from the pictures I've seen of them. It doesn't look like my Australorp did. He was easy to figure out. This little guy/gal is a little harder. I was hoping someone with a sex link would chime in with an opinion.
So here are updated pics of the black one. I havnt gotten to the yellow one yet but any suggestions would be nice. I'm sure they're not anything super fancy I just don't know what they are.
Thanks for the replies! I've tried to respond a couple times but I guess this site doesnt work well on my phone. It kept not posting my messages.
Love the stories and the pic! That is Super cute! my babies have continued to come to the door to be let in. I've stopped letting them in a night...
About a week ago a puppy that we tried to rescue, broke into our coop and killed 4 of my 6 birds. I was heartbroken, and left with one boy and one girl. I promptly brought them in the house and proceeded to love on them constantly. I put some bedding inside one of our oversized dog kennels, and...
Maybe the black one is a Black Star? I read that they're a cross between RIR and BR. If my other 3 are BR then maybe it's possible. Esp considering this is the same place I got my RIR. I can't find anything about the yellow one so any suggestions would be helpful.
Visited the feed store today and came back with some new babies. The guys there know squat about chickens. I believe I have 3 Barred Rocks, but the other 2 I have no idea about. I've never had a yellow chick before so this one is new to me altogether. The all black one kinda looks like an...
