Did they really do that? that is so weird and funny i guess whatever works... lol
I do drop my temperature when hatching as well but the eggs themselves increase the temperature by quite a bit in the hatcher adn they have all hatched well this season, two 100% hatches.
From my experience, the number you get will make a difference. Just have to play with them or be with them as much as possible in the beginning so that they really imprint on you. However I would definitely hatch them out as it is more special that way and I have them sitting on my chest and...
well done congratulations on your new babies!!! Are you going to have them imprint on you? I do this by playing with them lots in the first week and letting them play and sleep on my chest with a towel of course so they don't poop all over me and it is really cool. I also try to hand feed...
I tried to vent sex them last night but couldn't see a willy in any of them. Am I that lucky to get all girls? or did i not do it right? I watched the metzer's video on how to vent sex so i tried it...maybe I will get my colleague to do it.
They have all hatched today and doing really well. Now I have to vent sex them to figure out which are the girls as I plan to keep maybe 2 and the rest will go back to my colleague. I am currently over run with ducklings at the moment with both excellent hatches and she is actually going to help...

good luck with this lot...

I have kept temp at egg level at around 101F for incubating and I set for lockdown the temp at egg level is 98F and 70% humidity and it has worked very well.
Fill all the wells for hobavator with warm water. I have one of those but i built a small one that I use for hatching. I know it...
Thanks duckyfromoz....you want to know something funny?... I jusy worked worked out that your user name is actually ducky from OZ. I have read a lot of your postings and it just clicked this morning...
ok mine are pretty near spot on then. today is day 26 and two eggs pipped yesterday, one...
Well it turns out that some of my ducklings are pure blood of pekin. I noticed that a couple of them have pure orange bills and the other 2 have pinkish bills. Could one be male and the other female?
I really hope it is as easy as that...
I am quite excited...I got these 5 eggs from my colleague for free to hatch and they are all doing well at the moment. 2 of them have pipped and early again like my batch last week.
I hope I will get at least 2 hens from that and the rest will go back to my colleague. she is quite upset at the...
