kinda late response, but:
i have gotten faverolles from a registered breeder/shower and from an ebay listing. polar opposites :-P both were magnificent. i have not seen a hatchery "example" photo i would consider good quality (except the textbook illustration) so i won't take the chance. the...
thus far my experience has been that realtors don't know and will just say "call the township", but then whomever you manage to get on the phone doesn't have the code memorized and doesn't care to search it for you. so i look up the code online myself and search through it. get it from the...
i'm currently house hunting and seem to have found a few places that probably allow chickens (without an acreage minimum). I thought it would be great if anyone who knows where in NJ one can have chickens can share and we can spread the word about these great open-minded towns!
so far i am...
he's my Miracle Man: mother had prolapsed 2x and still lays viable eggs, father had contracted and survived a disease that took 3 other chickens. I expect Miracle to be very hale. He hatched in may, mother was a buff orpington and father was white (sort of columbian colored) belgian d'uccle...
he's a sweet young man, will eat corn/seed/treats out of my palm, but no snuggling. hatched in may, mother was a brown speckled cochin and father was salmon faverolles (pictured). haven't heard him crow yet so i can't say how it sounds. he is free to good home, will not ship, but willing to...
@KikisGirls i don't entirely trust the quality of the online hatcheries, can't trust that the picture they show is the actual parent. and i don't have the space to risk on sub-standard birds. i already have a handful of mixes, the faverolles are to be show birds and i have to be sure i'm...
i need to improve the beard in my flock, so i'm looking for hatching eggs from hens with big beards. my roo is otherwise exemplary (iho :p), but his beard is just not what i would like on a show bird. i am in NJ so it would be ideal to ship from east of the rockies, save the eggies some...

do you still have the faverolles? were you able to get new pictures? i am in NJ, but travel to Ohio for work quarterly, would you be willing to meet in/near columbus to hand off?
Thanks so much! i have tried the kippen thing a few times but really don't know what the cues mean when they're asking for inputs. that rooster has started to get quite mean, so i probably won't be hatching any babies from him! personality matters around here :-P
his name is Daisy "Jack" Pancake
He is a very handsome boy, nicely shaped pea comb and feathers. he is thorough in his duties (see the hen behind, he only has two, clearly not enough hens). he is also very brave and protective of his girls (and the new babies that aren't even his!), so if...
i would like to know what sort of colors i should expect from my mixed flock if i decide to hatch eggs, but have not found information online that i can follow (especially since i usually try to research late at night with a very tired brain...).
i have a very handsome (at least i think so!)...
