I have 2 Rhode island whites that started laying about a week ago
and waiting on the 2 Jersey giants that will still be a while
2 Rhode island reds and 2 Gold sexlinks that are only like 2 months old
but my 2 whites are laying now and one just layed the HUGE EGG!!
So now can I expect an egg a day?
There are 3 more that might start to lay but I think one more might be ready the jersey giants I think will take longer
We have 2 Rhode Island white and 2 jersey giants about the same age approx 20 weeks
And 2 Rhode Island reds and 2 gold sexlinks about 8 weeks old
The last few days have been watching the whites get really red in the face so I opened a couple nest boxes 2 days ago and lined with hay. They kept...
Here is a pic of her or him as she walked in the coop
the one peeping in is a jersey giant same age and im wondering also about that one a bit
they are about 4 months old born in nov i got them about a month old on dec 23rd
the more i look at her stature im thinking she is just a maturing fast...
OH OH
I think one of my 2 rhode island whites might very well be a rooster
4 months old and this is what SHE? looks like?
And i also got two black jersey giants that one might be a Rooster also !
CRAP
so i have some chicks that are like 3 months old (look full grown) 2 rhode island whites and 2 Jersey giants
I have got some others that are now about a 5 weeks old and full feathers are in 2 rhode island reds and 2 gold sexlinks
When can i let them together?
I have put the brooder in the coop...
so whats up with this?
i have some new chicks and they are about a month old now
whats up with the sleeping with their head hanging down?
kind of strange to bring up the camera that i have in there and to see this
this is NOT the first time
not sure if its the red sexlinks? or the Rhode island...
its 1 inch chicken wire?
not thinking to many birds are going to get in there
and outside is going to be a treadle feeder where they have to stand on it to open it and the water is all nipple system
the fence shades the back of the coop in the late afternoon that was one of the reasons i put it...
I have 2 big dogs that have access to the back yard 24/7 and i dont even have bunnys in the back yard
dogs Rodasion ridge back and a long wire hair griffon the yoties dont even come close to my house as
both dogs run after them out in the open.
there is a 6ft chain link fence with pool privacy...
tried to get them to come out of the coop today but they are not having any part ofo going out the door
lol well ill try and finish the run by this weekend with a roof over it and ill just leave the door open for a day when its done i guess
arent they HUGE birds?
im reading like 10 pounds for a full grown hen and like 14 for a roster?
id like to have like 8 or so total 2 rhode island whites 2 jerserys and 4 others and one rooster of some sort
so i got some chicks for the new coop
and I may have to rethink the amount
since the black ones are jersey giants IM thinking they may take the space of 4 instead of 2 lol
so maybe 6 or 7 not 8 or 9
blacks are jersey giants and white are rhode island whites
with
i built this for the inside of the coop 3" pvc reduced to 2" with two cut slots for them to eat from
its about 44" tall not sure how much it will hold yet as i havent filled it with anything yet.
i have two big dogs that roam the back yard and i don't even get bunny's in my back yard i don'tthink a raccoon would want to try them
they hear a noise outside the fence anytime at night and they are both out the door and in the yard barking and running to the perimeter of the fence
lil more done on the coop
it is now solar powered
20 watt solar panel on the roof to charge the battery and keep it charged during the day
which powers a 700 watt inverter to power the light for night and if i want to put a fan in for the hot summer months during the day
and it has...
