Thanks elmo I will follow your advice thanks. Don't want a lonely chick I had one in the past and had to buy it a friend coz it was so sad!!! Even gave it a rubber duck for a few days to stop it feeling so lonsom however it decided that I was mum and followed me everywhere until I got the other...
Thanks Cloverleaf, I think I will leave her a week with the chick and collect eggs in the mean time then see if she will sit on them in one go this time!!! I've got a friend who also has a broody hen so can always pass the eggs her way if it doesn't workout
Hi anyone really know how to sex young chick's?? I have Orbingtons and even at 6/8 weeks old they are not nessicerilly that easy to sexs from comb's and feathers. Combes on females can be quite red and large and they have lots of feathers.
From a previous hatch I had 5 chicks 2 cockrells and...

We can kill them in this country, but I don't have a gun, we may get one in the future for rabbits. I have fired off a very high powered riffel at the rabbit round here and I didn't hit even with really good sights so to hit a flying magpie is going to be almost imposible or I'm just a really...
I think Moabite might of been having a sound off cos he was angery at his dog, understandable and like many of us when we are angery many be said a few things that are not really ment. Good luck Moabite with the dogs and chickens I have a Staffordshire bull terrier she is very silly and will...
The water cannon was a serious suggestion, just trying to bring asmile to peoples face'sbut seriously if any animal gets hit with a powerful jet of water they won't like it. Its been used on dog for sinple dog training exercises with small water pistols etc. But I'm figuring that the lady might...
I have a roo in each coop and each coop has a free range pen so the cockrells pretty much don't go in until bed time and then are to far away to see or care about a magpie going in - and you know magpies are smart so I swear today one sat on the roof as look out while the other went in to...
No one has suggested a big water cannon (water socker) some dogs will think it fun some will hate it - If the animals are light colours put some bright food die in the water then you can bug your naughtbour when her dog comes back blue or pink!! Haha.
I could never shoot a dog unless it was...
In the UK they are black and white birds which are about the same size as a crow, in the UK they will steal eggs and baby chick's from wild bird nest all the time. For this reason they are not a very popular bird with me anyway now they are super not very proplar I saw a pair going in and out of...
Hi
Looking for some help, I have 3 coops with differant breed of cooks in over the last month we have had a drop in our eggs and wet patch's in the chickens coops.
I suspected that the chickens were eating their own eggs so went and got some dummy eggs two days later they had dissappeared...
Sorry tp say this but a dog is a dog and it is the animals instinct is to "chase" if it catch's what it chase's it normally will do harm.
I think that your approch that you would consider killing your dog because you left it with a chicken and it did harm is really questionable. If your dog...
Hi There
I have had experiance with both my first ever rooster was a Welsummer and mean as hell, I still have the scar on my leg to prove it. I quickly move him on to someone who wanted a mean bird and got one of his sons - who is fine with me but you need to be confident and he does his job -...
Hi can any helpful soul help me out, my black orpington hen has a bubbly right eye. It clear stuff and her eye does not look sore, I notice last week that she's sneezing and the other day she did a poo by me and I can only say it was watery, hardly anything too it really. She laid an egg...
Butter won't harm chickens same as a bit of milk in oats. Same as us don't let them have too much as like us will get unhealth fat but a bit every now and again won't hurt. If they are anything like mine if they don't like it they won't eat it
Hi all
