I have 11-19 week old isa browns. They aren't laying yet but are showing behaviours that they will soon. What can I expect as far as egg production from them over the next several months? TIA
This is my first year to ever have chickens. I have 31, most pullets however we just purchased 13 layers. I have full confidence that they were laying when we got them as our kiddos are the ones that checked eggs for these people. Anyway,we brought them home and at first got 9 eggs a day and as...
I purchased 11- 17 week old ISA Brown hens and one doesn't have any tail. I've never seen this before. Anyone have a clue as to what it is? Really an ISA brown or something else
We have 2 polish chickens and were wondering if we could put 2 old German owl pigeons in with them. One of the old German owls is a cockerel all the rest are hens. What's your opinion?
Is that there a difference in these birds (besides the name)? I'm wondering if it's basically the same bird different hatchery? Is their meat quality, size etc alike?
TIA,
I'm new to the meat bird idea and very confused. I was looking at Cornish cross and a website said they didn't need caponized. I was also looking at Red Rangers and wondering if they "need" caponized. I don't think I really want to get into that. What happens if you don't caponize?
Thank you!
I'm hoping I don't have myself in a mess- I have 27 birds out in the yard and 30 in my garage that really need to be integrated into the flock. I can't really separate that many chickens for 2-3 weeks since its planned they all be in the same coop. What would happen if I just put them all in...
I have several chickens that have been laying with no issues. All eggs look wonderful... Just got a new pullet egg that looks like this! What is going on??? We have no roosters!
Our Americana (bought from hovers hatchery- not sure if she's an ameracauna or Easter egger) is about 6 weeks old and is getting feathers in and they are standing up on her one wing. She appears healthy and is active. We've tried to gently lay them down and it just appears that there's a lot...
Is there someplace online where I can purchase the oral medication for gleet?
I'm at the end of my rope with these two and have nearly exhausted all my ideas. So far we've done Epsom salt soaks, keifer, oregano, garlic, apple cider vinegar, etc... These two do not seem to be improving and it's...
I'm new at this so please bare with me-
We have 2 hens that we're treating (naturally) for vent gleet. One of them laid an egg this morning and there's a huge white spot on the yolk.
Can someone please tell me what it is?
Just wanting to make sure that we don't have to treat for something...
This is my first time dealing with this-
I just received from another person 2 chickens with vent gleet. I gave them a molasses flush then replaced that with water, apple cider vinegar and garlic clove. I took their grains away and giving them all protein as well as plain keifer once a day...
Sorry if this is in the wrong section- I figured it did have something to do with chicken behavior.
We have 45 chickens. Attached to the coop we have a fenced area that is uncovered. It's a fairly big yard for them but of course they enjoy jumping over the fence. I'm thinking about taking the...
I ordered 46 chicks from a hatchery that had decent reviews online. Upon arrival we had 2 dead chicks (I figured problems with transport), next day we had 6 dead chicks, another on day 4, day 5 and 6 more dead chicks. Around the same time we got chicks from Rural King. None of the Rural King...
