Grandpa's Chicken Feeder - Middle Tennessee!

I am selling my 20 lb. capacity Grandpa's Feeder! These feeders are amazing! I am only selling mine because I need the bigger size, as my flock has grown since I bought it. This size "feeds up to 6 chickens for 10 days". This feeder protects from small birds or animals getting into the food (as...

No preference on color really! And yes I would definitely set up and escape area like I did for the last ones. Although, I found I made more progress just leting them tough it out without separation. I'm just afraid I wouldn't find anyone to take a male.

I'm totally open to that but I just heard it's harder integrating into my current flock of 7 the older they are. I did that last Summer and hated seeing my new girls picked on because they were the same age/size as my current girls. They're fine now though! I read that younger chicks are easier...

What would you do? Chicken dilemma ):

Just for reference, this is me sitting inside the coop, with all the doors closed, with my dog. You can see the space in between the wood for ventilation and how bright it is in here. It's a breezy day where I live and I can feel it blowing through. I think we'll be ok! If I feel like it's a...

What would you do? Chicken dilemma ):

Negativity not necessary! Like I said, the money is not the issue. I just mentioned it in my orginal post because I wouldn't want to spend that much money if that wasn't the right choice in general. However, with everyone's reassurance and research I realized that a 10x16 run of 160 sq. ft. is...

What would you do? Chicken dilemma ):

Good news, everyone! I am keeping all 7 of my girls (and have plenty of room for more in the future)! We got a great deal on a coop and run and will simply expand our current run to total 10x16. I attached some pictures of the before and after of the coop we bought. New roof, coat of paint and...

What would you do? Chicken dilemma ):

Thanks for the feedback! The only issue with a chicken tractor or hoop coop is that our land is basically one big hill. Where the chickens are situated right now is about the only level surface in on our entire property. So, I'm not sure if that would work. Also, don't get me wrong we are good...

What would you do? Chicken dilemma ):

I have a dilemma and I've been going back and forth for days now trying to make a decision. Here's the situation: I currently live on a 1/2 acre and free-range my chickens every day. I love my chickens. However, they are becoming a bit of a nuisance for my neighbor. Also, my boyfriend (who owns...

    Safeguard stopped laying....?

Has anyone had an experience where chickens stop laying eggs after being wormed with Safegaurd? My girls were only laying for about a month before I had to worm them and I was getting 1 to 2 eggs a day from the ones who were laying. Ever since I wormed them I haven't gotten a single egg. They...

    Uhhhh.....oops!

So, weird story. Today, I went into my coop and saw my 5 month old BR quietly sitting in a nest box in the middle of the day and VERY determined not to leave. Immediately, I went on the defense and was all "Oooooh no ma'am you're not going broody on me!" (mind you, I'm newer to this and still...

    Worming Chickens.....Help! I'm overwhelmed.

Hey, everyone! I have a few questions....my chickens are young and I haven't thought about it yet but I'm starting to consider worming. What is the general consensus? Do most people worm? If so, looking for some simple, straightforward worming routines that you use. I've tried to read up on it...

    My First Egg!

Not too sure but I caught one of my RIR doing the squat the other day but she has since stopped. Hopefully they all lead by example!

    My First Egg!

I have the one Leghorn, 1 BR (lost my second one to a predator yesterday :hit ), 1 BO and 2 RIR. I'm sure the BR feather just got stuck there on accident. My Leghorn has a giant, red comb and wattles that seemed to grow overnight and has been doing the "squat" so I was expecting any day now from...

    My First Egg!

My very first, very tiny egg! I believe this was layed by my Leghorn since she's supposed to be my only "white egg layer" but it did have a small vent feather from a BR on it :hu 18 weeks and 2 days old! Not sure if this is already a thing but keep it going and post pictures of your first egg...

Well, everyone...it's been a sad day. I got too comfortable letting my girls free range while I wasn't home and I lost my first girl today and one of my other girls got all of her tail feathers ripped out :hit :hit :hit They are 17 weeks old and didn't even start laying...not sure how this...

Might be a stupid question but.....

Thank you, everyone! I appreciate your responses. Hopefully over time my chickens will learn to trust me and calm down. I know it's possible because I know, see and hear of many people who are able to easily handle theirs. I also think chickens are smarter than some give them credit for! :weee

Might be a stupid question but.....

Probably should add that I have 2 BR, 2 RIR, 1 Leghorn and 1 BO in case the breeds are a factor of it or anyone has experience with these breeds!
