One of our barred rocks has been sneezing and then following the sneeze with a loud exhale of breath. She has no other symptoms. Breathing sounds normal, no secretions from her nose or mouth/eyes. Poo looks normal. None of the other chickens are catching it or have it. I put some apple...
Yep---it is hard! Um, not sure which end comes out first, sorry. It does look and feel very cool. they basically just get their regular food and once in a while we give them some treats like some greens or fruits-watermelon, lettuce, yogurt, broccoli, etc. No golf balls either! LOL:lol:
Thank you for the replies....the two chickens are on the layers feed as well as the oyster shell...we mix it in with their food and also give them some as a treat at least once a week. I will try the tums trick though-thanks! This is the first time that we have gotten this type of...
For about two months now we have not gotten any good eggs form our 2 ISA Browns. I am not sure if they are molting...every once in a while they will lay a very soft shelled egg and we figured they needed more calcium. We are giving them egg shells and mixing other calcium into their food. We...

I've noticed at "bedtime" that our 4 barred rocks and 1 australorp will surround our 1 buff brahma. We also have 3 leghorns and 2 isa browns. The Isa's are about a year older than the others and we have had them since they were babies...we got the rest of them together and they were born in...
We bought some from TSC and they told us they could be a few different kinds...I'm hoping someone on here may know what they are. There are 3 different kinds in this pic....thanks everyone!
We got 6 chicks from TSC. They are around 2-3 weeks old. One that we have is competely different looking than the other...as far as colors I mean. We noticed last night that she was trying to huddle with the others and seemed to be shivering a bit. She also was not walking around like the...
Hi everyone! We are dealing with our first moulting....at least I believe that is what it is! She is losing feathers all over and she looks like a ball of fluff (on the bottom anyway) My hubby just seen her actually pulling some feathers out herslef...is that normal? Also, how long does it...
Unfortunately she just died. It was peacefully at least. I am so sad....she must have had internal injuries. We are going to go confront our neighbor-this is not the first time their dog has come into our yard. We will be nice of course, but I am still so upset! We have had no problems with...
I am not sure she is going to make it! The neighbors dog came over onto our property and got her-I found lots of feathers and then my hubby found her. She has puncture wounds from an obvious dog bite and she is still alive. She cannot get up at all and it seems her "butt" is protruding a bit...
A little more info-she is free range, and eats layers hash and cracked corn for a snack. There are 4 others and they are all fine...
Update-she just layed an egg that was very soft shelled-well, really not even a shell, pretty much a blob and now she is acting pretty normal...out scratching...
My chicken is stumbling/falling. She is a ISA Brown and about 9 months old. She has layed eggs the last couple days as usual, but they have been thin and had like a circle imprinted on them...todays is very weird shaped and still has the circle...what could be wrong??? Please help!
Hello to all! My hens are about 9 months old now and I have some questions about molting. I read that they need a certain amount of hours of light to keep laying...we have been doing that and getting eggs everyday, no probs there. I think I also read though, that if they have that amount of...
My dh and I have 3 of those chickens-they are ISA Browns. One is layin galready and the other two still are not. They are around 17 weeks old. I have been told that you just have to be patient with them.....We get an egg pretty much every day from the one that is laying-a deep brown egg...
