Speckledhen's Ten Commandments of Good Flock Management

Have 5, 8 month old French Black Copper Maran's Roosters and trying to decide which 3 to keep. All 5 are beautiful roosters but 2 have solid black chest and other 3 have specks of copper on chest. Which is better solid black chest or lightly copper speckled chest for meeting standard requirements?

    Hens Quit Laying

Black copper Maran's and blue copper quit laying premium feed, plenty of water, light and heat lamp in coop but all 8 hens quit laying. No eggs for 5 wks now. 7 hens are 10 months old and 1 hen 16 months old. All look very healthy but can't figure out why they all quit at same time? Any ideas?

Day 21 no signs of Piping or movement

Will do. I wish I could or someone figures out what is going wrong. I have read so much on here and followed everything to the letter that I have read on BYC and you would think out of 48 eggs going at same time ( 4 incubators-12 eggs in each one) I would at least get 1 egg to hatch. Thank you...

On the first bact last month I lost, yes the membrane was tight. buton this one eggtosey the membrane wasn't the the chick was alive. I have 4 hygrometers and have switched them from incubator to incubator and recorded readings each time and all 4 gave same readings as one I would swap it out...

Day 21 no signs of Piping or movement

No, not a lot of liquid in it. Membrane was stick around it and when it opened up, chick moved around and when I picked it up legs and body jerked around, so it was alive.

Day 21 no signs of Piping or movement

I also accidently cracked one of the eggs when candling it on day 18 but at the time left it in incubator. I got worried about it exploding or contaminating other eggs so I removed it next morning. I broke it open and to my surprise, chick was alive but within a few minutes it dies so I know as...

Day 21 no signs of Piping or movement

Humidity never exceeded 45% in any of the 4 incubators for the first 18 day and yes, I moved around all 4 electronic humidity readers and recorded numbers and always came out within 1% no matter which incubator it was. I also use ST1000 for temp control

Day 21 no signs of Piping or movement

Question: Incubated eggs at a constant temp of 99.5, 45% humidity and auto egg turner for first 18 days. Candled all the eggs before lock down and all look good. Lockdown incubator and raised humidity to 65%. At day 21 now and still no signs of movement or piping. I have 4 incubators going with...
