I just don't want to upset their reproductive system by taking the light away cold turkey, since the one is a little inconsistent in her egg laying. I just don't want to do any harm by taking it away.
Thanks everyone for your imput! Should I gradually get rid of the night light, or just take it away cold turkey lol @cheezenkwackers @bluemerle @CrystaBub
My 2 pekins are 2 years old. I have had them since they were ducklings. I have always used a nigh light in their duck house, not for egg production reasons, but just so they could see their water and food at night. My girls lay all year round, but the one hasn't been consistent since last...
She eats plenty and drinks and swims and forages, so I’m just hoping it’s a side effect. She is herself other than looking a bit chubby in the face lol
so my one female pekin had some issues with not laying, the doctor thought maybe it was an infection so she prescribed her cephalexin 2 times a day for a little over a week. Yesterday morning was her last treatment. I noticed her face has gotten a little fatter. Is this normal? I posted...
Went to the vet today. She may have an infection in her resproductive system. She prescribed an antibiotic! She did not feel that an egg was stuck so we don’t think she is egg bound. My girl has a history of not laying consistantly so the dr feels that it may be an infection!
There was some yellow. I had my husband hold her while i checked but it was a little i wiped off. I didnt feel and egg or anything. Should i be worried about it?
What is a discharge from the vent? I noticed more white in with the poop and this mornig I saw some yellow gew from the butt. Thought it was some yolk but not sure
Good to know! Will it be obvious to me if she actually goes binded? They really did give us good eggs every single day this past year, except a few days here and there. I read pekins can lay up to 200 eggs a year but we have clearly surpassed that lol
Ok thank you! I will lock the house when I let them in the run.
This is her standing and preening. Her silly self. Has a stressed momma worrying abot her lol
Yeah, no eggs anywhere. They have their house and run they stay in and I sit out with them in the evenings so they can range. No egg anywhere these past few days, but noticed she lays in the nest more.
