We put her down. They said she was already very close to dying. I feel like it was the best choice.
Again, thank you all so much for everything! :hugs
Thankfully the other ducky is as healthy and as happy as can be! She has already become close friends with our rabbit!
Yes, sadly it was just a whole lot to juggle being as busy as I have. I'm going to go ahead and have her put down as I feel she is probably miserable in her current state.
Thanks again to everyone who shared their words of wisdome! It was greatly appreciated. Too bad it wasn't a happy ending.
Yeah, she feels cold, light, and bloated. She still moves her beak when I put it in the food....even her eyes look shriveled. Is it safe to go ahead and euthanize her? I just want to make sure it's the best choice. She looks like she feels awful.
She's gotten worse. She now barely even tries to drink or eat when I feed her. All she has the energy to do is to lay down with her head stretched upside down in the shavings. She is hardly pooping and hasn't grown for nearly two weeks.
I'm thinking it's time to put her down. That this is...
Yup, we'll just have to see how long this continues. If she keeps on like this with for another month Without improvement Would it be reasonable to consider euthanizing her?
Thank you all so much for your support and advice, it's meant the world.
Yes, I am. Her total medications/vitamins are one vitamin E capsule squirted into her mouth, niacin water, and polyvisol. She ran through all of the prednisone the vet prescribed. I never could find any of the brewers yeast.
Is it looking likely that this isn't a simple vitamin disorder?
Poor girl isn't pooping. At all. I'm feeding her as much as I can, I'm not sure how much she's getting or if she's just chewing it and letting it fall back into the bowl. Her legs are often splayed, which my sister recognizes as a neurological issue...which probably won't get better. So sad, I...
Just got home...poor girl is a quarter of the size of the other duckling I bought at the same time. Her neck is crinked even tighter and she spins in circles. She can hardly eat/drink.
She's VERY hot. Is it dumb to gently put her in cold water to cool her down? I'm afraid she dying. Going to...
Well aside from our chicken coop/fenced in run, I usually merge my ducks at this age with the rabbit. Ours is a little wider than the one below and is covered uptop, it also has a dog igloo to go in and out of. It's also cemented. The ducks would have to bunk with a rabbit and a turtle. Is that...
