    overwhelming new chickens

Hi, yesterday I got two new, 17 week old, easter egger pullets one of has a bit of an injury but I've taken care of it. My problem is that I feel that we(me and my family) should not be over whelming them (because they have just moved and we are introducing them into our flock) by having new...

Chicken with tail feathers picked out

I looked at it again when the blood had dried and I think that it was just one smaller wound and the blood smeared.

Chicken with tail feathers picked out

I already used it. With the pain relief. How does it kill the chicken? When I mean is the tail feathers.

Chicken with tail feathers picked out

What is Neosporin? We just got her, so we don't know what they were feeding but I do know that they were a bit overcrowded. She's only with one on other bird who we watched and they are not there not pecking each other at all.

Chicken with tail feathers picked out

Hi everyone I got a Americana pullet and just realised that all but one of its tail feathers have been picked out. I'm not too worried about why because I think it was just an overcrowding issue based on where I got it. But, is there anything I can do to help keep the wounds safe? should I put...

    Mystery Eggs

Oh, I also have another question. Yesterday I got my second regular sized egg but on it are a few dark red- brownish colored smudges or dots I think they might be blood- has this ever happened to you before? Is it safe to eat? And thanks for all the input on my other questions!

    Are oyster shells needed?

Can I buy a smaller bag of the shells? And is there any other things I can use instead of oyster shells, just out of curiosity?

    Mystery Eggs

Hi, I believe that I have two pullets that have started laying. I have only gotten one or two eggs a day so far- all with perfectly fine egg shells. I only think I have two hens but I got three eggs one day and I don't think that a hen can lay 2 eggs a day. The only possible explanation is that...

    Are oyster shells needed?

Hi everyone, my girls have just started laying and I recently got a shell less egg and have some questions. I know that you should give hens calcium using oyster shells and that's what I was planning on doing. I also know that the shell less eggs are normal when pullets just start latong. Then...

What should I feed my mixed age flock?

So I can't feed my rooster laying feed? What do you mean by an all flock feed? Is it a certain type of feed or something that all of them can eat?

What should I feed my mixed age flock?

Hi everyone, one of my pullets just started laying yesterday and I'm supper excited but I'm not sure what to feed my flock. I have three that are about 18 weeks old (2 are pullets and one is a cockerel) but I also have 2 that are 10 weeks old and another silkie rooster that we are giving away...
