I have 6-7 silkies that need to go outside ASAP. They have been living in my garage since hatched. I need a pre-made coop with no ramp as most WILL NOT use ramps. Or at least a small ramp. I have thought about the Eglu or the Ecoflex Fontana and run. I worry about something to keep them warm...
I accidentally went into lockdown a day early last time because I had my times off. Not sure if that could have caused it? At candle before lockdown "MOST" appeared to move, although some I just could not tell for certain.
So I hatched my first eggs ever 18 days ago. I ended up with 32 good at lockdown and 12 hatched. Now I am on my 2nd batch of silkies, I started with 42 now down to about 17 good eggs and tomorrow is lock down. Last time i put them on their sides with the big end of the air cell up. This time I...
I just noticed it yesterday, and it had pieces of the egg shell in it, I worked on it at my lunch hour for 30 minutes and got nowhere, then when I got home yesterday working on it more and it would never soften. I hated poking arounnd too much but I would not tell if right above this was the...
What would that mean exactly? Do you see the pic I posted above? At times I will see it poop and a little will come out and other times its like it is going to poop and nothing comes out but then nothing is there either. She had to be helped from the egg which i regret doing because she is much...
Last night I did this off and on with warm water letting it soak in paper towels for 30 minutes and the hardened area would never soften up. Thats why I was wondering if it was something else besides poop.
This morning I observed that it looks like most of the feather picking or loss is outside in the run area. That is where I saw most of the feathers. I have them on Purina flock raiser with free choice oyster shell and grit. This morning I gave them chopped up cabbage and some scambled eggs and...
This little silkie is the runt of my hatch. I just noticed this last night and she is about 3 days old but this hardened ball on her bottom. I worked on trying to soften it like it was poo but got no where. I put a little olive oil around the area as well because I could honestly not see her...
It's definitely the saddle feathers and they are picked off down to the skin. I watched for an hour tonight and saw one of them get pecked by one of the ones in their group not the older group so I don' know what' going on. There are 7 hens in a 6x12 run. We are planning on adding onto it though...
Hey guys, need a little help. I noticed today when letting my hens out from the hen house to their run, that 2 of my newer additions - a black australorp and a splash maran are missing about a 3x3 patch of feathers on their back right before their tail feathers?! They are actually plucked out...
I candled some of them before and after lockdown and they had developed and there was movement. So I'm not sure what happened with them. I didn' open them though
