    problem with my waterer

Put a large funnel in the bottom of the food bucket. It forces the feed out the side holes. As for the waterer i believe 1/2" hole is too big.

For those who used OSB/waferboard for their coops

I used it on mine. Just make sure its got a good coat of paint especially on the edges of the osb. I'm on my second year and it's held up fine so far.

Any idea what breed these are?

My daughter's preschool class hatched these out 6 weeks ago and I have yet to figure out what breed they are. Their teacher ordered them as a mixed bag of eggs so we don't even have breeds to choose from. Three of them appear to be the same breed and one is different. Thanks for any help you...

    Is Rosie molting or what?

One of our hens, Rosie, has had these spots on her for a couple months now. She is eating, drinking, laying, etc. I took these pics so you could see what I'm talking about. She has a couple of bare spots on her chest and right where her wings connect to the body. Other spots her feathers...

    Incubator temps dropped overnight

My DD's preschool is trying to hatch some eggs. The eggs have been in the incubator for roughly 7 days. Their regular teacher was out with a sick family member most of yesterday. When she returned this morning she found that someone had adjusted the thermostat yesterday and the temp was down...

    Guineas hatched out

UPDATE - She is becoming more open with the keets so over the weekend I decided to try and catch them in an effort to help them get used to us. Well, I grabbed one up and gave it to my wife for the kids to see and pet. Not a good idea at all. Mama was mad and decided to take it out on my...

    Strange actions

I have 2 ducks, a female pekin and a female blk swedish. I know they are both female because of the lack of a drake feather and they both lay in separate nests and their eggs are different colors. Now here lately I have caught the swedish on the pekins back as if she is trying to mate her...

    Guineas hatched out

Our guinea has been sitting on a well hidden nest. So well I never did find it, but today she showed up at the edge of the corn field with 3 babies. So far I can't get close enough to catch them. Is that what I should do if I can or will they be safe with their mom and dad around? I'll try...

Can you get grown chickens to use nipple waterers?

I have had my nipple water system in the run for going on day 3 now and I have yet to see the hens drink from it. I have jiggled and tapped on it until I'm about to give up. They do not have any other water source so I'm beginning to get concerned they will dehydrate. I have stuck cherries...
