I flushed and flushed and flushed and gently used a qtip and was able to remove a lot of snot like fluid and also notably this large solid like pocket of pus! Super gross but a huge success in my opinion! The left eye is still quite cloudy and wont open all the way and certainly not at all...
i got a good amount of pus out but there appears to be some wrapped around or clinging to the eyeball itself and i feared worse injury if i continued to swipe at it. i will try again in a few hours, i dont want to stress the chicken out too much. she still hasnt eaten, and only a little water...
uhmmm im not entirely sure? most days i let the birds out and put em in and check their water and i dont look very closely at each bird, just at the flock as a whole.
My not-quite year old isa brown chicken seems to have some eyes injuries of some kind. Not sure what happened but the left eye is shut and swollen-ish. I've been getting her to drink some water but not any food. I read somewhere that yogurt can be given to chickens as a sort of "soft...
i recently mixed my 12 week old chicks (ISA browns, buff orpingtons and americanas) with my adult hens/pekin ducks. Everything was going well, they came back into the coop at night, everyone was eating well until i noticed a few days ago one ISA brown was having trouble getting places that...
my dog caught two baby bunnies this morning and i dont know what to do!! we have held them a good bit to try and protect them, one had a bloody nose, and im afraid the mama wont take them back after we have held them and the dog slobbered on them....
My ducks appear to be developing scab-like brown spots on their bills and it cant be washed off. They weren't there on Monday but showed up somewhere in between then and now (Thursday)
I have some 3-4 week old ducklings and i just noticed that one keeps walking on her own feet, has trouble walking forward, has knotted-looking knees, and bowed legs. I've heard I'm supposed to tape her legs together, but this is my first time with ducklings and I don't know how to do it. Also, I...
The blue one in the third pic looks like a roo but i could be wrong. Just a guess from what i can see in the pics. Also your birds are so beautiful!!!
Another thing, the age of maturation is usually 20-25 but it varies per bird.
I would just keep her comfortable and warm (try not to seclude her from the flock) try soaking her feet to get the nasty dirt/poop off but DON'T SCRUB HER FEET. Just let her feet soak in gently warm water (not hot) so that the dirt and poo doesn't get her feet infected. Good luck with the...
I am literally so tired of the cold weather! :he I just can't wait for summer! :bunI am so ready to start getting my garden established and my chickens are getting restless without any bugs and weeds to root around in.
The float test is an indication of the gases of a rotting egg in the shell. The float test is not only an indication of age but also of if they are edible. Scrambling the eggs and giving the eggs back doesn't sound like a bad idea.
