    and how old were you when you first started raising chickens? i just turned 16, and got my chick Callie march 6 of this year. i love her my family has had chickens before, when i was little and growing up. like at various times when i was ages 5 and under.

    feather ridge on chick

    yes, if i understand correctly what you are asking, they do. i have some buff orpingtons. this isnt the best picture, but it shows the ridge fairly well. and its very soft and fluffy!! as for age, they look about the same age as mine when she was around 5 or 6 weeks old. hope this helps!

    Is it normal for them to begin trusting you around 3 weeks old?

    it is amazing. we have two buff orpingtons. mine is mellow, loving, kinda motherly to the others. laid back yet curious. the other is younger, and a bit of a bully! but still cute and nice. as if she wants to act all tough but is really just a sweetheart. i love watching them all!

    california whites

    aww we have two BOs who will both be about 8 lbs, and a california white and a silver spangled hamburg. the hamburg will only be about 4 lbs, so its good that we will have another little one to balance it out!
