Hey everybody it’s been awhile since I’ve been around and I’ve an issue I could use your help with! to start things off today I had to cull one of my chickens due to severe head wounds from a raccoon attack. The bastard finally found a way into my coop after 4 years of success. Then all the...
Sounds like you’re good I’d just keep it covered after clean and add neosporin add some gauze or clean cloth and wrap with self adhering medical tape or athletic wrap
Hopefully it’s the same for splash variety too. I also have 2 gem hens that just came into lay but I can’t remember hOw their development went at that age
Their systems are still just working out the kinks. It should happen less as they mature more. I’m sure you’ve seen other strange things like double yolks I had one that was double shelled.
Thanks everybody for the helpful tips! She is about a week old at this point And mommas done a swell job taking care of,hopefully “her“. Is she going to be a”loner” though when she is weaned since I don’t have any other chicks her age? Or will she “friends”?
My 2/3 year old broody hen has finally hatched her first egg. So now my question is what’s next for her and her chick will she lay again? Will she go broody again? How long before Chicky starts wandering around without her or will they be lifelong mates and form their own sub flock? Any tips...
I’m not sure how the genetics work with sapphire gems and splashes but I know that the gem males are barred is it the same with splashes? I have a 3 month old splash who seems to be to be quite rosy in the Comb and wattles. I’m really hoping She will not turn out to be a He. I’ve already had to...
I believe it’s from one of my sapphire gems, father was blue laced red Wyandotte, so handsome, unfortunately neighbors weren’t happy with a rooster in the area and I had to rehome him not to long ago. At least I got something to remember him by hopefully it’s a girl lol
Ok This is her first hatching And I’ve heard horror stories of serial mothers. Right now they are in the coop should I move them to their own space now or after the hatching and imprinting?
No blood no distressed peeping . Also it’s almost night here and I’m worried about how my broody react to the chick. How long could it take for this little guy to make it out?
