    Mystery Gal

So this cutie was abandoned and brought to the wildlife rehab center I work at. No idea how old she is or what breed, but pretty sure she's a pullet. Any ideas as to what breed she could be? I'm thinking she's probably just a mutt, but boy are her legs green!

    Any breed suggestions for protection?

Well maybe just shear size will deter the cat. Blerg, part of me doesn't want to get more, I'm just so discouraged, but last time I only had two the girls started crowing.... So obviously they weren't feeling so confident. I'd love a hen that actually lays which is the other reason I'd rather...

    Any breed suggestions for protection?

I lost my partridge silkie pair to something yesterday. I'm thinking it was probably a cat. We have 5-6 foot fencing around the coop, one chicken was dead inside that area, the other was dead outside. Neither were remotely eaten and the only injuries were neck wounds. We've had someone's...

    Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

Quote: So sorry to hear that If you live near any water, like rivers, creeks or ponds, it could've been a weasel. Neck wounds are their MO. I live in a pretty residential area. We don't have a whole lot of wildlife. Definitely the occasional hawk, maybe an opossum here or there. But I've...

    Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

I went out to put my chickens to bed last night and found my pair of partridges dead. I think it was probably a cat neither of them were even remotely eaten but did have neck wounds. What an absolute disappointment... I was just getting excited about the possibility of baby silkies in the spring.

    Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

So I posted on here in... August I think? (on page 101 if anyone's interested in looking back) Asking about my two partridge's. While neither have laid an egg or crowed, I'm pretty sure my little one is a boy and my big one is a girl. I thought I'd re-post to follow up and get your opinions...

    Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

Well that would really stink if I had two roos, but what can you do?

    Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

They really don't do much except cuddle with eachother. The littler one definitely peeps more which made me think s/he was younger than the other. The littler one seems to like to wiggle its way under the other one too. I've only had them for a few days so we'll have to see what develops...

    Sexing partridge silkies

    I wouldn't complain about that!

    Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

If only patience was a virtue I possessed... I really only want to know so I can name them properly. Silly? Perhaps. But warranted? I think so! Haha.

    Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

How about the penciling though? It seems like the big one has a lot and the little one doesn't have any.

    Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

Hi there! I could use some help with my first two partridge silkies. I was told they were 3 months old and one male one female. However, upon returning home I realized how difficult it is to truely sex silkies before 6 months. Despite that, I'd figure I'd give you silkie experts a shot at...

Introducing single chick to a very small flock?

Here's a picture of him too! No idea what breed he is.

Introducing single chick to a very small flock?

I have a very small flock, only 2 hens. We had three but lost one to a hawk. She was not the smartest of the bunch for sure... I ended up with a single chick that I think (for some unknown reason) is a roo. He's super tame, I think he was an abandoned easter present. Anywho, I put him under...
