    Formex Coop

Hi, the Foremex ended up housing 6 Minorcan hens and a rooster. The coop has been great and is currently empty as it’s been moved so it will be sickbay/new hens/chicks. As needed by current needs. One of the reasons it was bought was it’s portability. It works and looks the same as the day it...

    2022 Chicks - Cackle Experience

Part of the stress of tracking is the USPS no longer shows all the tracking information. When the box leaves Cackle, it goes to the local post office then to Kansas City and then to the next distribution center, after Kansas City, I get no updates until it arrives at my local post office.

    Hawk finally figured us out

Losing chickens is always difficult. We maintain over 200+ chickens and are about to add another 100 or so. We've had hawk issues off and on for several years and have tried many ways to keep them out. We have, with success, been attracting crows to our land and the hawks tend to keep their...

Winter Feed Cost and Growing Fodder

I’ve stopped buying from TSC, I’m not addressing health or bird care, I’m addressing the amount of roosters I’ve gotten a disproportionately amount of roosters even when I bought sexed chicks. The manager at TSC I talked to blamed Hoovers. It occurred 4 times so I went back either hatching my...

Questions for the owners of: Black jersey Giant roosters, light brahma roosters and those who own both together!

I have a 2 year old very large NJG rooster and he sometimes lays down or stretches out. He has done it more since I reduced the size of the flock. He has trapezoid style roosts and he sits under one at night.

    Devastating Raccoon Attack

Electric fencing works best to dissuade ground predators

Raccoon attack last week, hens don't want to go back in coop at night

IMHO, usually a few days and they’ll go back to a normal routine. Raccoons will return, I’ve added electric fencing around the perimeter fence and it helps with all ground based predators.

Review by 'TARDIS37379' on item 'Plastic Nesting Box'

I have 6 of these I caught on sale. At first the New Jersey Giants ignored them and I removed the wooden nest box setup they had. They lay in the boxes and break very, very few. They install in minutes and can be relocated just as quick.

    That Time Of Year

This is the first year since 2014 that I don’t have new chicks. I have for coops and 110 hens who are all laying and the oldest is just over 18 months. I welcome New chicken owners and help as I can. It’s exciting to see people enjoy chickens. The trouble is so many people buy chickens without...

Hi, and thank you. We currently have 110 chickens and we are looking at others to expand. ISA Browns are a very viable option we’ve looked at. ive never gotten good chicks from my local TSC so I order them from several hatcheries. More chickens will mean a new coop and run.
