I have asked in several places with no one giving answers or suggestions 😓:hmm. I started adding niacin, vitamin D, and the packs of chick vitamin and probiotics. It's only been a day, but I am hoping it doesn't get worse...
Apparently the beak is made of keratin just like finger nails so I am...
It's not much but the top beak is growing slower than the bottom beak. I read that this could be a vitamin d deficiency? I am feeding them chick starter, but due to the heater breaking in their outdoor brooder I had to bring them inside. This is only happening to this one duckling and I...
I have 7 roosters, but for now I want to rehome/sell these three first.
1 year old Lavender Orpington roo, named Philip. His girl was killed by an owl the day before Christmas so he has been a little lonely in the flock. He is a sweet boy in need of hens of his own. He is getting picked on by...
This is only my fifth time hatching my own eggs. So I am still doing a few trail and error with the incubator I have and Ithought I had everything worked out mostly. I did have the same issue last year with my ducks, but I was lucky that Tractor Supply sold ducklings in September so I only...
Out of six eggs only two hatched. I dont know what happened since I try not to open the incubator until they are hatched. One egg looked as though the chick zipped it open when it stretched, but nothing since then. No movement or chirping has been detected from that egg, even when I first...
When I picked her up to put her in the crate a couple hours ago she felt like a squishy balloon. Her leg is spread out to the side a little instead of being straight down like normal but she still uses it. I cannot confirm whether it is broken or just stiff and sore. I only noticed it after...
Excuse the angle she doesnt like being observed by people. I put her in a travel carrier to limit her mobility in trying to escape even though this morning she was trying to pry the door open with her beak...
I could not get a photo of her wing and I doent want to add anymore stress to her by...
When I first found her I sprayed a wound spray on her right away. My blue lotion stuff keeps going missing when I need it... I am still looking for it because it worked very well when one of my 5week old keets was almost scalped.
My Guinea fowl was attacked by a dog!:hit she survived and is alert and walks around with a really bad limp. Her leg sticks out but she still moves it a little. She isnt complaining of pain but I think her pain tolerance is either really high or she may be in shock? It's been a day already. She...
I bought this mystery breed duckling at tractor supply. I know it wasnt a Pekin because it had very light markings. I looked at a duckling chart and it seemed to resemble a very light colored Welsh Harlequin duckling, but ultimately I am unsure. I assume it is a girl, but I cannot rule out it...
I understand that due to Diatomaceous earth being a fine powder so it can be hazardous if you are constantly breathing it in directly or using it in large quantities in a poorly ventilated area, but when researching there are thousands of references that recommend giving it to the flock either...
So Diatomaceous Earth will aid in deworming them? I used to give it to my flock but I havent for the last 2 months... does that also explain her leg?
She limps very badly since she isnt using the foot at all. When feeling around today the thigh has reaction to me bending it, meaning she acts...
Our neighbors are family and we never treat our trees, which is why the bugs get to the goods before us half the time lol. The trees are older and most are near the end of their life, which could be due to bugs but every thing here is older than I am (25) so I don't know if they were treated...
Yesterday I noticed one of my very prominent (loud and outspoken) female guineas was not very loud when she made the "Buh-crahh" call it is very much at the same hushness and hoarseness of my adult drake duck. Now today I noticed that she is limping and lays down mostly. She can scoot away...
I believe we have a wide variety of grasses and weeds to choose from. We live in the middle of the country with native grass with tons of weeds that I dont even know the name of because I havent seen them before in the suburbs where I've lived before. They also are housed on the edge of a pecan...
I currently have 31 chickens (1 rooster, 5 hens, 6 cockerels, 19 pullets), 14 guineas, and 8 ducks (1 adult drake, and one confirmed month old drake). I let them free range for at least 8 hours per day as well as give them crumble feed and I am buying somewhere between 6-7 50 lbs bags of feed...
Final update: I am unsure since she still seems underdeveloped but since she has been feeling better I have found very small eggs (the same color as her sisters') in the nest could she be laying those eggs or do I have a new layer? Either way she is happy and healthier. She just flew up on the 7...
Update: Vier seems to be doing a little better she is walking around more and pecking rather than sleeping. She actually tried to run away from me when I went to pick her up today, which to me is a good sign she is alert and has energy. I do not see any poop stuck to her feathers today either.
