Hi all! I apologize for not being active lately, nothing very exciting has happened as I have just been going through the usual routine with my girls. But just a few minutes ago I saw this tiny egg and almost thought it was a chocolate Easter egg! It was so small I almost stepped on it since it...
Merry Christmas Eve everyone :) hopefully nobodies plans have been ruined with the rain! LOL. We planned on having a bonfire but I suppose an indoor celebration will have to do, Santa might have a hard time navigating through this rain and fog ;)
That sounds great, we usually eat goat for New Years so I’ll have to keep an eye on the thread and see if any recipes catch my eye. Hopefully that leg of lamb recipe is a keeper!
An update on my roosting problem :) I searched for a few different roost ideas online and I found that we already had the supplies to follow this style so we finished it up yesterday and installed it today. Just went out to close the coop and the chickens were all on different levels rather than...
Our neighbor has a very large tree that grows over the brick wall so I may cut down a few branches the next time we trim it down :) do branches pose any problems at all when it comes to bugs or critters? Should I wait a few days after cutting it off to use it in their coop?
Yes I think that will be our best bet. My RIR still tends to peck at the others when roosting so I think more space and more roosts will be a good choice. I’ll be looking into different styles this weekend and hopefully have it done before the holidays. Thanks for your suggestions :hugs
I cracked my phones camera a few weeks ago so I can’t take any new pictures:idunnobut I’ll see if I have any pictures saved from before and upload them here as I wasn’t planning on finding a replacement until Christmas. We did move the roosts closer to the entrance because we thought it would be...
So lately I’ve noticed that the chickens have begun roosting on top of their nesting boxes instead of on their roosts. Not all of them fit on top which often leaves one or two off and since they are crowded they sometimes peck or try shoving eachother off, how do I get them to stop? Last weekend...
Happy thanksgiving everyone! The past few months have really flown by and I haven’t had much time to check in lately.
Speaking of turkeys, two relatives of mine got a turkey from work and a niece won a turkey at school so we currently have three 😆. We plan on only cooking one for dinner today...
This month has been busy busy busy! The weather the past two days has been beautiful, and I can’t help but hope this means cooler weather is headed towards us :fl
They do! They gave me $10 for him but I was more focused on getting him a new home than on the money, it did buy the chickens a bag of meal worms though ;) he was a bantam so quite small, I’m not sure if they’d pay more depending on the size? It might be worth it to call and ask
Last night the lightning and thunder kept me awake! The girls woke up with some ruffled feathers because I’m assuming some went out while it was still sprinkling :gigI’m sure they’re enjoying the cooler temperature..even if it means tomorrow will be humid!
