Woke up this morning and found my 2.5 year old SL Wyandotte face down in the nesting box dead around 7:30 am. There were ants already on her and a small amount of dark color liquid on the wall near where she died, which could be blood and possibly could have been there before? Last night when...
I have 4 laying hens... no roosters. Well my 10 month old Black Cooper Maran mix has already become brody. This is the first time I've had to deal with this. I've tried taking the eggs away and putting here out to free range with the others and she goes right back. When she is out free...
Thanks all for the help... She made it through the night and now is able to hold her head up. Still hasnt ate besides a little yogurt I gave her in the dropper with water. Should I continue to give her yogurt or something else through a dropper? She is not interested in eating anything right now.
Back in April I dewormed all my hens with Wazine followed up with another common dewormer (can't remember the name). Well a few weeks ago we tested them and found roundworm larva. So tis time we did Valbazen and 14 days later a second dose. The second dose was given Sunday. Today when I got...

I have a small flock, 2 adult hens and 2 7 month old hens. I dewomed all of them with Wazine followed up with Ivectum back in May. Just to check we had a fecal done on one of the adults and 3 rouond worm larva showed up. Should I do wazine and Ivectum again? Also last time I mixed the Wazine...
I have a 2.5 yr old Buff Orphington, Susan, who tends to get a little brody, but always comes out to eat or to get out of the coop a scratch around the yar. Well today I went out there earlier to collect eggs she was sitting on a egg and noticed there was a little bit of yellow liguid on the...
We let our hens out in the yard to dig around in the yards and woods as usual. They were fine when we let them out, but noticed when we put them up that our 2 yr old buff orphington kepth opening and closing her mouth. She will stretch her neck out every so often and then just start walking...
Appreciate all the replies... Well guess I'll be moving them out of the brooder and into the mini coop this weekend . Now when is it time to let them in with the big girls? My Buff O is ok around them, but the SL Wyandotte not so much. She squaks and pecks and them.
Thanks,
Brian
I have some 7.5 week old chicks. Is it ok to leave them outside yet. I have a seperate 4 x 8 coop that has a 4x3 foot section with wall and a roof, but the front is not enclosed with wood so there would be somoe air flow. I can run a heat lamp out there if needed. Would it be ok to move them...
I am planning to deworm my 2 hens (1 SLW, 1 Buff O) that are 1.5 yrs old with Wazine followed up by ivermectin. Is there something else I should be doing? Im considering food grade DE as an alternative. Does it work as well and how often do I give it to them?
Also, I have 5 chicks that...
Are these hens or roos? Also what breed do you think Brownie and Piglet are? They are currently 6 weeks old.
#1 Brownie (EE and RIR mix we think)
#2 Rocky (Barred Rock)
#3 Piglet (Not sure what breed)
Thanks
Brian
