Yep. I just tried to use my best instincts and read up on the standard. I'm happy with my birds, hopefully they will mature into nice toulouse

    Selecting giant dewlap toulouse

On Saturday I am hopefully driving an 8 hour round trip to obtain my first buff giant dewlaps. I'm extremely excited as this is my "dream" breed, but I'm hoping for some advice from more experienced members on what to look for, since I will be allowed to select my own birds from the available...

Help with coturnix chick colours! (updated pictures in comments)

The ones you think are light pharoah, could they be calico? I do have a calico female. They look VERY different than my pharoah. Grayish where they should be brown. I also have a female that looks like a pharoah but she's all shades of gray.

These two absolute cutie oddballs. I thought the top one was a silver until he dried off. Now I have no idea. Bottom one is gorgeous but unsure of colouration. I think it looks to my eye to have white crescents and bib possibly which makes me think he is out of my "rosetta" male with the same...

Help with coturnix chick colours! (updated pictures in comments)

Tuxedos! I'm not sure of the colours. I think most are a silver range? But definitely have one or two cinnamon/reddish looking guys amongst? They would be out of my tuxedo male, who is a silver.

Various shades of "red range" or rosetta? Tibetan type base colour? Many with white bibs and crescents above eyes I think?

    My Old Boi Scrappy

I love him so much 😭 All the birds I've raised myself have been extremely tame. I find coturnix imprint heavily on their people!

Help with coturnix chick colours! (updated pictures in comments)

I'll get better/individual pictures later, but I've just had a lovely hatch. Trying to figure out what colours these chicks are so I can make my selections about who is staying for future breeding and for me to enjoy, and which will be looking for coops of their own elsewhere! Any ideas? I know...

    Coturnix Color Confusion

And I have a male that looks an awful lot like the bird you just posted above. I'll try and get some pictures of birds later and see if members can give me accurate colour names 😊 Very proud of my birds but I want more knowledge than what people seem to be able to offer around here.

    Coturnix Color Confusion

Thank you! His mother was a golden (italian)! I've been breeding and raising quail for a little bit, but it seems like knowledge of colouring is VERY scarce where I am at in Canada, and a lot of people call colours by different names than I am seeing on here. I have a batch hatching in the...

    Coturnix Color Confusion

Quick question! I have some sort of dark range (think cinnamon) boy. He's got a white bib- but also perfect white eyebrows over both eyes . Any idea what causes that?
