So I have this old Japanese Quail who turns 4 on the 11th of November and he is still going strong.
Many people find it crazy just how tame he is, as he'll happily take a nap on you and loves attention, as long as his dustbathing time isn't disturbed. :p You could probably do anything to this bird and he'd just be as chill as a Capybara, he can go outside without needing a pen (ofc he is supervised) as he won't go too far away from you and is absurdly easy to just walk up to and pick up, and he loves to play either with a hand, or chasing a stick like a cat. He also has a Diamond Dove named Lulu as a boyfriend.

Scrappy wearing his little bell. Useful for when he is out and I am doing cleaning, but is mostly just used for festive events such as Easter and Christmas... Yes, it is the same collar that comes with the chocolate rabbits. XD

I sometimes put a bell on my quails too!
But I put it on the boys when they're in trouble
It's funny because it rings when they run around!

His toenails look a little long. If he doesn't naturally ware them down, you may have to consider clipping them. I can't imagine they would be comfortable.

I normally get them clipped at the vets, but due to this pandemic, it has been difficult as they are all emergency only. I am a bit scared to clip them on my own in case I hit the quick. XD
I should try gently filing them down though with a nail file.

I find it funny when I leave the room to do cleaning in another, I just hear a little bell chiming behind me as he follows to see what I am doing. :love It is adorable!

I love him so much 😭

All the birds I've raised myself have been extremely tame. I find coturnix imprint heavily on their people!
Indeed! I didn't even get him as a chick, he and his brother were given to me as young adults by a friend who was told they were female, so she ended up with three rowdy boys and two hens.

Also, while one might think he is a run-of-a-mill pharaoh at a glance, you just need to look closely to find his secret white patches of feathers.

It is a cute little trait hardly anyone notices since it is so well hidden under his ruff and cape.
