Where to buy incubator NR 360

It sounds like the Harris Nature Right 360 incubator is most recommended. Unfortunately it is very pricey in Canada. Does anyone have advice on how I can get one for less than $300!

    Egg layer strike

My 5 chickens, Wyandottes and Americaunas and a bantam Brahma, all stopped laying early this September. The Americaunas and one silver laces laid the latest - but now have stopped too. Only one has last feathers and is likely moulting but not the others. Unless they have a stash somewhere I...

DC Heritage Poultry - has anyone used this breeder?

Yes. It was a rough start, but they all survived. Five are now thriving - 4 Wyandottes and a Brahma. One Wyandottes turned out to be a Roo, which in the end was a good thing. He takes great care of the girls. They have laid eggs all winter and are beautiful. One of the chickens had a beak...

Two of 5 laying... 0/5 using boxes

Thanks everyone... I have a few more layers each week (3 now) and they are all laying under the nesting box (haha). I may try putting a board there and replacing the golf balls with real blown eggs.

Two of 5 laying... 0/5 using boxes

So, my girls are taking their time with the egg laying and nesting routine. My Silver laced Wyandotte has been laying for a few weeks - but directly under our nesting boxes. I’m wondering if we should close that area off? I caught my Brahma laying a tiny egg a week ago, and have seen a few here...

    Breed help, please!

I honestly know very little but thought I’d chime in as the chicks are too cute. I have a Brahma and they have feathered feet if that helps. Awesome breed - so gentle and goofy.... and huge.

    Egg hunt

Thanks! I am going to enlist my son to help me catch and check their pelvic bones. So interesting! My one concern with cooping them up is the rooster. He’s quite the personality and I’m worried he will drive the girls crazy locked up. Can I let him out alone and keep them inside?

    Egg hunt

So I’m finding eggs all over the place now that at least one of my chickens has started laying (how I’ll ever figure out who it is is beyond me...). I’ve got four nice nesting boxes, and they have golf balls... will the chickens just figure out that they’re the place to lay eventually? Do I move...

    Shouldn’t she be laying?!?

Yup - mine are around 25 weeks and no eggs yet. I have Dottes too (As well as Delaware and Brahmas).

Wyandotte, Delaware and Brahma late layers?

I haven’t noticed any squatting or other behaviour 😕 they seem to just be happily roaming and eating their day away, roosting... repeat. The only real change has been in our rooster who started crowing and showing off lately. He’s also changed visibly, growing in size, with a really red comb and...

Wyandotte, Delaware and Brahma late layers?

I’m obviously excited about my first eggs. I am hoping any day now. I think the age of my chicks is about 22/23 weeks. For these breeds should I be getting excited?

Is there any way to keep a rooster quiet?

Yup I feel the same way about barking dogs.

Is there any way to keep a rooster quiet?

I’d say don’t have a rooster. Like you said, It’s unfair to your neighbours as they could be home at any time of the day. Roosters can’t not crow. Maybe you could just order chicks or eggs instead?

Chasing chickens - want them to learn to come to me

So I didn’t spend enough time training my chickens to let me hold them I guess, because whenever one escapes our run - it’s like a gong show trying to get them to not run away from me. What do I do to train them. Will then come to you if trained to? Normally as soon as they see me they run over...
