So sorry…I scrolled down and see where you commented on what to do with eggs after treatment. I’m still worried about eggs I have already collected. We’ve had a lot of rain here lately…just noticed the stringy thing this am.
Ok. I will look for the valbazen. Not sure how coordinated I’ll be trying to do this 😳. Should I toss eggs collected past few days and the ones while I’m treating?
Saw long skinny white string in a chicken poop that looked normal otherwise…guessing it’s a worm. Probably should’ve taken a photo and I’m looking into treatments on the site, but should we discontinue eating eggs until I figure this out? I have four 1.5 year old Rhode Island Reds in Louisiana...
Well, that was a first😂, but I do love my chickens. I didn’t feel anything. I’ll go find the pill you’re talking about in the morning. Thanks for the advice.
I wasn’t worried at first because I thought maybe the molting process was starting and I know that can stop production. We have 2 hens, so I’m never sure who’s laying and who’s not. When I saw the trail of poop in her feathers, I was concerned that maybe this was something else.
Oh my goodness 😟😟😟. My rooster is limping now, but he’s usually not the friendliest so I’m scared to approach him to see if there is cut. We thought he may have injured himself jumping off roost or trying to scale the fence. Didn’t even think of disease as a possibility??!! Was yours exhibiting...
Thank you! They have a coop and a run we close them in at night. They free range in a section of our yard all day. I’ll try this book. The one I have doesn’t go into to much detail on disease. We have plenty of mosquitos where we live, so I’m guessing that’s how they got this. I’ll monitor...
First time chicken owner. I did the covid chicks, got 3, then added 2 more a couple of months later. Had a big hurricane hit. Knocked fences down. Coop ok but yard was a mess. Ended up with one of the latter either injured or sick (wobbly and her wings were kinda stuck out). She lived for a few...
Also, I was able to ask a vet-who doesn’t look at chicken- on first pullet issue because I was panicking about disease, and his thoughts were her issues could be heat related. She is a buff Orpington I got for TSC in Louisiana. Apparently these are not heat tolerant?? Not sure why they’d be sold...
I posted a little over a month ago that I was worried I had a sick or injured pullet shortly after a massive hurricane hit out area. Did not have access to stores. Was worried one had cocci because she was waddling and laying down a lot, no issues with eyes, no bloody poop. Was able to get cocci...
Her poop was a little runny. She’s been nibbling and drinking water if I put in front of her. Ill look into coccidiosis. I’ll try to find the medicine, but not much open since the storm. Thank you!
