I’m going to reinforce it with hardware cloth soon, but is there anything you can recommend for the bare skin. I gave her a warm bath, but the area seems quite clean. I’m also not sure if I should separate my ducks, as they seem to get distressed when they’re not together.
I have a rough photo of what it looks like, the door is on the side that hasn’t be imaged, but it’s got two locks one at the bottom and top, they’ve also got one side of the rough covered, and the other side on top of the pool is the chicken wire. We dug under the ground, and also added...
I’ve built a predator proof run, and I live in England where we usually only get foxes at night, and if I’m not around I always lock their run, but thank you for the advice, I also thought it could be a predator but my drake was left untouched.
I left my ducks in their run for the day, and when I returned I found my female pekin (about 15 weeks old) was missing some feathers on the back of her neck (I have attached some photos below), I also have an Indian runner duck who I believe is a drake by his quack, who is only 11 weeks old. I...
I am based in the UK so the feed I have is Dodson and Horrell chick starter crumb, and it contains 19% protein.
She doesn’t really have many treats, but does like to free range in the garden where she eats slugs, and probably other bugs.
I’m not sure how much protein is in the feed, but I do know it’s suitable for ducklings. I only started mixing in oats at about 3 and a half weeks, as I read that they need less protein and that was one way to do it. I provide extra niacin to my duck by adding brewers yeast to her food...
My duckling is just turning 4 weeks old and everything has been going pretty smoothly, but I have noticed that one of the growing wings (the one on the left and picture attached below) is growing a little bit upwards, and I wasn’t too sure of this is early sign of angel wing. I have still been...
The humidity is around 73%, and I made sure that the beak is exposed and surrounding membrane moistened. It’s been around 40 hours now since the first pip, do you suggest I give it some more time Before helping?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE HELP :)
I tilted it a little and noticed that the membrane was very brown and dry, so I peeled a bit back so that the ducklings beak is exposed, but it started making yawning motions so I placed it back in the incubator.
The part that I peeled off had dried dark crusts on it (if that makes sense). Also...
I’ve had a look and there’s a small crack near the pip on the underside of the egg, so I think it is trying to zip from the bottom; should I turn the egg ever so slightly?
