You do have the wrong chicken breeds. Not all chickens are friendly and not all chickens are wild. The EE - with Ameraucana blood lines tend to be wild. I have 8 different breeds of chickens and some are friendly and some are not. The Whiting True Blue - are wild. The Silkies are tame, as...
I just went and checked out my 4 adult birds, and I would say - YES - they do. They have little tuff on their faces so it makes it harder to see their ear lobes, but they are all white.
We dump it in a pile, with dirt, shavings, kitchen veggie scraps, and let it sit all winter. The pile is heating - which is what we want - but it will sit 6 weeks - 6 months before we use it.
I have no comments on McMurray Hatcheries. I am from Canada and had an order placed with them, but when covid hit and the border was closed we could not get into the US to pick up our order so we had to cancel. McMurray was excellent that way. But the Whiting True Blues are on the wilder...

I have a Polish Rooster who is a Frizzle. Can I let him run with his 3 Sibling sisters plus another little polish hen. Two of the females are frizzled and two are not, but the one smooth is his sister. I am new to this Frizzle stuff, but don't want to screw it up. I would like to raise little...
Well I will have chicks hatching July 17-18. I have 22 in the incubator right now. They are - Whiting True blue eggs that we picked up from a Local breeder about 70 miles away. Then I have some home-grown Svart Honas eggs, and Russian Pavlovskayas. I am really keeping my fingers crossed in...
Here is a Picture of my Russian Pavlovskaya. I really like this rare breed and My Roo is gentle. They hen is so sweet too. I would like to get a few more hens in this coloring. I live in Canada - so getting birds and eggs across the USA/Canada border can be tricky. Especially with Covid 19...
Thank You Stipenvlerk - the article was very helpful. Not something I can change a whole lot, so will have to learn to live with it and take my chances and losses.
What have other people done when they have discovered Mareks in their flock? I had two chickens about 6-7 weeks old that came up with parallelization, so I culled them and submitted them to the vet. The results came back Mareks. So I cleaned and disinfected the pen today, moved the chicks...
